Just a reminder that the next Portobello Organic Market is coming up on the 5th February. There will be the usual lovely mix of artisan bread, local organic fruit, veg and meat, locally made cakes, fudge....come along and see what else!
The PEDAL stall will be there with all our project information and the Changeworks waste team will be there to give you all the advice you want on composting and reducing your food waste.
This market is the last of our five trial markets and we think they have been a huge sucess! We have already appointed a professional market manager (Market Craft) and need more volunteers to join the market group, to allow it to continue once our current funding runs out completely on March 31st.
PEDAL remains in control of the market and PEDAL market group volunteers will steward, design publicity and organise entertainments and activities for market days, while Market Craft look after bookings and erecting stalls.
So, if you are interested in supporting the market please contact the office on 0131 258 4483 or email polly@pedal-porty.org.uk.
If you want help out and earn a bit of money at the same time Market Craft are looking for 3 reliable temporary staff members to help with the setting up and dismantling of the Portobello Organic Market for the event held each first Saturday of the month in Brighton Park, Portobello.
No experience is required, but applicants must be physically fit and able to assemble market stall frames and roofs, and an amount of lifting is involved in the process. The work is outdoors at each event throughout the year.
Set up time is from 7.00 a.m. until 9.00 a.m. and break down from 2.00 p.m. until approximately 4.00 p.m. each Saturday. (These times will change to 6.00 a.m. – 8.00 a.m. and 1.00 p.m. – approximately 3.00 p.m. from April 2011).
Wage is £50 per market.
For details please contact Nick Paul at Market Craft on: 07528 530502 or email: info@marketcraft.co.uk
