Yeah, I know
It's boring
Been going on and off for a couple of weeks.
Still being looked into apparently...
Posted 13 years ago # -
Yep, not alone. Always seems to happen just when I get some spare time to post and not when I'm just lingering!
Posted 13 years ago # -
Lots. Sometimes I can get the homescreen if I enter http://citycyclingedinburgh.info/ rather than http://citycyclingedinburgh.info/bbpress/ if the browser is too quick to bring up the 403.9 page upon refresh.

Yes. It is quite annoying and usually happens when I just want a quick check for new posts and usually means Firefox is about to crash. Mind you Firefox crashes alot on this computer along with Word, Excel etc etc..

It's been pretty bad today.

Help seems to be finally on the way -

Thank you for emailing Easily.
I have just checked with our engineers and they are continuing to investigate this for you. If we were to go ahead and move you to an alternate cluster there would in theory be no downtime at all.
We will provide an update shortly regarding this.

Please be advised that our engineers have done a load balancing on our servers. This should help the problem with websites running slowly. Please let us know if you are still having problems with your website."

The error message was due to a high user volume trying to access the database at one time.I have been informed that your database has been moved onto a less busy cluster which I see has resolved the issue. Please let me know if you require any further assistance.

Ooops, its happening again...
How much traffic are we getting? Must be a lot of lurkers.

"How much traffic are we getting?"
Well a reasonable amount for a small local forum at lunchtime.
BUT can't be that much.

Any ideas to the fatal errors we seem to be getting. Can't seem to see any posts with out a reply.
Posted 13 years ago # -
yup. really seems to be no point to starting new threads. better to just post OTT replies.
EG this is the story i suspect Dave Crampton was posting:
Cyclist's body found by roadside in Borders
Police in the Borders have begun an investigation after the body of a cyclist was found by the roadside. The man's body was discovered by a passing driver near South Lodge, Minto, on the Ancrum to Denholm road at about 1700 GMT on Sunday.
A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police said the force was working to determine how the man died.
They have appealed for witnesses who may have seen him in the hours before he was found to come forward.

"Can't seem to see any posts with out a reply."
Not just one's without replies.
It's all a bit (apparently) random.
Posts can be read using http://citycyclingedinburgh.info/bbpress/rss.php - but obviously not replied to.
All working fine (read and reply) on iPhone - not much use to most people.
This was a 'problem' 10 months ago that ISP eventually dealt with, but this time it's worse.

Thanks SRD, I suppose we can start a new competition, to see how far from the original posters topic we can get. Of course you'll have to append it to an existing thread and just phone everyone to let them know instead of starting a new thread!

another good competition - to try and guess from subject line what the post actually said!

"All working fine (read and reply) on iPhone"
Ah, ha! And Android too it would seem.
Posted 13 years ago # -
Now it's getting randomer.
I posted previous post on laptop which instantly gave me error message.
Now thread has 're-appeared' on laptop.
