Portobello High School Girl Road Cycling Programme - We’re looking for donations of road cycling kit and affordable bikes suitable for girls aged 11–16 as we continue to grow our exciting new girls’ cycling programme at Portobello High School.
The programme brings together a diverse group of girls from S1–S4, many of whom are completely new to cycling. The girls have already enjoyed sessions at Fife Cycle Park and are heading to the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome this week. Their enthusiasm, energy and willingness to challenge themselves has been incredible.
Our aim is not only to create opportunities for girls to participate in cycling, but also to develop a blueprint that helps schools work more closely with local cycling clubs and embed cycling within the curriculum.
Sustainability is central to our approach. Working with The Bike Station, we are refurbishing and building bikes while investing in a few hours of a bike mechanic each week rather than simply buying new equipment.
We’re looking for:
Road bikes suitable for girls aged 11–16
Helmets, shoes and cycling clothing
Affordable second-hand equipment
Sponsors for bikes or riders
If you’d like to donate, sponsor a rider or get involved, please contact:

Every bike and every piece of kit helps remove barriers and create opportunities for young people to access and enjoy our sport
Thanks very much,
