Own site still says "Edinburgh opening early 2012"
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.

Noticed the signs from the bus yesterday evening.
There were rumours that it was just the corner bit, but it seems to be all of it!
I note that Evans have their workshop service price list available. Looks reasonably priced, certainly competitive.
I'll stick with Eastside though. Not only are they cheaper but they're my LBS. They know their stuff too with older bikes.
It's great that Evans are here, they'll probably do well. I shall try to support my LBS in preference. If I 'need' a shiny brand new bike at some point in the future it'll be tough. Eastside don't sell them generally, Leith Cycle Co. are an option, Biketrax and EBC too. Can't rule out Evans either.
be handy for any web bargains with store collect
And the staff have come up from London. One of the mechanics is a mate of mine, Polish guy, staying with me until he gets a place of his own.
Shame they didn't employ anyone local.
Coming along Fountain Bridge this morning to find a mid sized lorry parked in the cycle lane, loading stuff into Evans. I hope this is a one off stocking exercise, they do have a loading area up the side...
@Crowriver glad to see someone else liking Eastside Bikes! It's run by a friend of mine and they're great. Sorted out a variety of horrible issues on my old tourer and even picked up my bike from work and dropped it off afterwards last time I needed a solid service!
They will be stocking the new raleigh 2012 stuff which is fairly interesting looking. I note also that eastside is moving into a shop further down the road. Where Leith/sandy gilchrist used to be.
Be interesting to see evans open though. Always good to have another opportunity for browsing through bikes and kit!
"I note also that eastside is moving into a shop further down the road. Where Leith/sandy gilchrist used to be"
Really? That's Leith Bikes' second shop - is it/both shut?
"I note also that eastside is moving into a shop further down the road. Where Leith/sandy gilchrist used to be"
There is gossip related to this story. I am not sure if it ought to be repeated here though. Sandy Gilchrist apparently still owns the shop premises.
Leith Bicycle Co. will continue on Leith Walk it seems. It's a pity, I thought that the mix of Leith Cycle Co. and Eastside was a good one for Abbeyhill. However I am pleased for Eastside and wish them well in the new premises.

Ditto.
Oh and by the way, Leith Cycle Co. have a 'relocation sale' on at the Abbeyhill shop, so if you are looking for a few bargains give them a try. I presume they must be moving out pretty soon, maybe the end of the month?

Raleigh are still putting out some decent bikes in the higher end of their range. The Sojourn and Clubman look interesting, and the SP range seems pretty good roadie material. I'll have a peek when they open the new shop to see what Eastside will pick from the range...
If only Raleigh would release some of the US specific steel framed models over here: some of them look great.

Interesting Cyclocross range too.
"If only Raleigh would release some of the US specific steel framed models over here: some of them look great."
When almost all Raleigh bikes were made in the UK, there were often higher spec models exported to the US.
There was even a time when Raleigh weren't sure if BMX would 'happen' in the UK but was selling BMXes in the States with 531 frames!
This was doubly strange/conservative as at the time - post Chopper - Raleigh didn't see much future in bikes for adults beyond the most basic models.
I was stopped at the traffic lights outside the Evans earlier, Was looking through the window and got a big smile and a wave from a chap sitting on a box on a phone. Maybe manager/staff member but was nice of him to wave just because I'm on a bike!
Just off to check that it actually opened.
I was planing to do an informal 'Tour des Magasins' this week, checking the new Evans, Decathlon, and maybe some shops I haven't been into like Ronde, Alpine, etc.
Alas the poor weather prospects are a bit off-putting...
It did.Passed it tiday on my way home
CBA going in as the weather was grim and I have spent enough money lately!
Rather good voucher deals in the new Evans store. Valid until end of May!

As chdot texted me, 'Looks like a shop'.
Big barn of a place, nothing really out of the ordinary (though I hadn't heard of Jamis bikes before). I think it'll be a 'pop round for a bit that broke on the way to work' place for me, handy to have nearby, wouldn't go out of my way for it (unlike TBC (for relaxed non-factory atmosphere and cool stuff) or Biketrax (for cool stuff)).
I pass it on my commute each way. so handy for spares etc
usually have to go off route for EBC or the like
