Moist frontage is not a problem with the base layer ;-)

A moist rear is more of an issue! LOL

The pants are amazing, to look at, they have kind of grooved targets on them, very disconcerting

Did not clock the hoists??? Did buy gilet, even medium a bit big. Did speak to other cyclist and ask him if he met me at scotmid HQ, very emphatic no was the response. Maybe at PY? I had my trousers tucked into pink gentleman's half hose. He remarked my tricross was a nifty bike for doing the shopping in.

Aye, no medium gilets left in Leith store. I snapped up the last large, which is a tad generously cut. Will be good for wearing over other things, I suppose.

Picked up base layers, the medium a wee bit snug, large a better fit. Conversely medium jersey (last red one) a good fit, though my wimpy biceps mean the sleeves are a tad flappy. Snapped up couple of pairs of socks, some track mitts (always good to have spares) and some cycling gear for Mrs crowriver too.

Overall I still think for the price, the quality is pretty good.

DaveC: "Err... I thought Cyclingmollie was Tom????"

I have gone back to Cyclingmollie. I'm that everywhere else and there's enough Toms.

Road cc had an article on Rapha versus LIDL but I did not read it.

I went a bit bonkers and bought loads of stuff.

The gillet in a M is too big however (I prefer them a bit more fitted) and will be taking it back unless anyone on here is desperate for one. The cycling shorts were rather...errm, revealing one would say? They seem to accentuate a certain area (some see that as a positive I guess!)

Base layers work very well as do the glasses and gloves (I bought a pair in each colour, sad..yes!).

deckard112, I would be interested in that gilet. PM me if not already taken/returned.

I could have a closer fitting 'summer' one, and a roomy, bung the wooly jumpers under it winter one too...

(Can you tell I went a bit mad in LiDL too?)

Crowriver that is an excellent link to the rod cc article about Rapha Versus LIDL but I would not like to give the impression I clicked on it. I was thinking about the gilet and offering it to you but then I thought it might go over a jersey with bananas etc in the back pockets so being a tad large not disastrous. Then I felt a little bad but then deckard112 replicant offered you his. so I have resolved my cognitive dissonance on the matter.

Decathlon are selling quite snug thermal long sleeve jerseys for fifteen quid. I bought a medium which was tight and a large that was less tight, waiting for Stirling train today, on way home I took the medium back. They are white and red and black or blue and black and white. Quite good.

@crowriver - replied to your PM but not sure if it worked! Still have the gillet if you're interested. Cheers!

Hmm. Still need some new longtights or legwarmers for this winter after a zip broke on my old legwarmers in January.

Just went down to the Granton shop to see if there was anything worth having. Just what there is in the leaflet. No 'Crivit 11 speed carbon groupset' or whatever. Briefly considered some 'Baufix' masonry drill bits or some cheap rawlplugs but decided I didn't need either!

Took a circuitous route home through Pilton, but no sign of my missing/nicked road bike.

Fiddlesticks, forgot all about this. I meant to pick up some extra bib longs as the Crivit ones are quite good, and great for the price. Hopefully there'll be some left on Wednesday...

didn't someone say their longs were basically see-through?

Their shorts are, I found them very very uncomfortable and binned one pair on a weekend tour after some swearing. But others like them and they are very cheap.

I got some Crivit ¾ shorts a couple of three years ago - they were fairly see-through around the thigh when attempting to have them stretched over ¾ of a leg but less so when they're lodged just below the knee, though I only wear them as a padded cold-weather underlayer beneath nice opaque-and-bepocketed baggies.

@SRD, not in my experience, though I have 'winter' weight ones with a fleecy lining. If there are any left in my size tomorrow I'll find out...

  27. Popped by and got a few more pairs of the gloves (which are fine for autumnal chill, before real winter sets in), and picked up some more of the socks too. I've been wearing the same few pairs I bought about 5 years ago for cycling and they're still in fantastic nick. Built to last!

Went to put the gloves away when I got home and found, in various bags in my wardrobe, another 4 pairs of the same thing, plus more socks and fingerless gloves that I have no recollection of buying. Oops. I've become a Lidl cycle-gear hoarder!

I also found a pair of Lusso MaxRepel bib longs without a pad which I bought online but have no recollection of buying either.

Sometimes I worry about myself.... ;-)

Still quite a bit of stock left at Kirkgate LiDL in Leith. Was there today and picked up bib longs, a jersey, sports glasses and a some socks. Interesting to note they have track pumps too. No idea if they're any good but they look alright.

    @crowriver

My LIDL track pump is 2 years old and still going strong. No problems with it ever, and can get up to 110psi in no time. Highly recommended.

  30. I picked up a few pairs of the bib longs a few years ago, but have never worn them as I tried them on and they are the weirdest cut / shape I have ever seen and look terrible on - tight in some bits and hugely baggy in others. German cyclists must be very strangely proportioned.... ;-)
