I wonder if he works for the Evening News?

Indeed. Which is why I will be speaking to the Childrens Reporter. There will be a JLO report since a child was present but I'll emphasise it to them. What was worrying was the child didn't react at all.

I've not come across this guy - at the risk of sounding out of touch ;-).

Update: Interviewed by police for an hour about the incident. He will be charged, only question is what with. Breach of Bail, Breach of Peace, and possibly Threatening Behaviour (a new offence under section 38 of criminal procedure 2010). He is a well known idiot; I have an interest from the professional side in seeing how the justice system works so I'm not too bothered about the time loss. Main point; they are asking other cyclists to come forward and report any other incidents with this guy. Contact St Leonards

There was a man between Argyle place and Meadow place about 530 with a stick or golf putter who was steping infront of cyclists to ake them stop then yelling curses and abuses at them. His beef seemed to be they "almost hit him", but he didn't seem to be walking, just hanging around, and was quite deliberately getting in the way. I wasn't on bike, was on foot on other side of road. It was loud enough that people all around were stopping and looking. Fat bloke, sweatpants and stripey polo shirt. No dog or child. Local accent. I hope he picks on someone who gives as good as they get.

I agree with SRD - this screams "flashmob" to me...

I am thinking some possible mental health issues here? Or is that not the flavour of the encounters? Keep safe.

I came across someone very like this when I was on foot, walking my dog on a cycle path in Queensferry a couple of years back. He laid into me with an astonishing bellowed tirade of effing and blinding, all with the little girl on his shoulders. The message was that I shouldn't have my effing dog off the effing lead and I was an effing ugly cee. Meanwhile my blameless pooch was making friends with HIS dog, which was also off leash!!!

If it is the same bloke I really fear for that child.
