CycleStreets has been selecting a photo each day from its database and announcing it on Twitter. (PotD usually highlights nonsense.)
Anyone can add photos - there's even an "import from Flickr" option. Photos appear on routes when people use the CS journey planner and helps to give some idea of what it is like.
