Seems a change of wind direction caused a drop in temperature.
Anyone notice?

CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

Yes. Hands and knees freezing. The rain didn't help either.
I noticed the v strong cold wind as it fired hailstones and rain in my face coming down Restalrig Ave this morning. Not pleasant at all - those hailstones can sting!.
By the time i'd got to the Ferry Road path it didnt seem too bad. Probably because its a bit more sheltered and I'd warmed up.
Absolutely awful today and still feel shivery. Was completely unprepared for it with the usual slight chill morning outfit of teeshirt and arm warmers shorts n knee warmers.
Was just soaked and cold by the time I got to roseburn and it got worse after that.
Yeah I was in jeans, a "regular" t-shirt, a hoody and a "regular" gilet. I failed completely to be warm.
see I'm not sure I could do the distance you do in jeans, in the rain it must've been awful, would have added about 10kg onto your axel axle (EDIT-sorry must have been thinking about popular german boy's names and/or 80s synth pop icons) load :)
I'm not sure I can do it either! What min said this morning about seams = correct!
Short and sharp
'Twas a tad parky right enough! Didn't get that much warmer as the day wore on. neither!
Just back from hols - what is up with the weather? When I left it was lovely.
I hope you enjoyed the weather we were having a couple of weeks ago because that was our summer.. :-P
Parents, in-laws and sister are visiting and demanded earlier this evening that the heating was reactivated.
Rough winds doth shake the darling buds of May
Looks tricky tomorrow - may wimp out and take the bus. Was quite "fun" today cycling to and from the Moorfoots.
Warmer though.
Then there's Tuesday -
Wind can't make its mind up.
The current windspeed (according to Met Office widget) is 21mph Westerley, with gales all around the British coast.
There is an amber warning in place for Lothian and Borders as follows on Met Office site;
A period of exceptionally windy weather is expected to cross the northern half of the country during Monday. Wind gusts of 60 mph are expected widely with gusts of 70 mph probable across parts of northern England, Northern Ireland and Scotland. Some very exposed areas may see gusts as high as 80 mph. Winds will start to ease from the west by evening.
Yeah giving serious thought to taking the bus tomorrow. I probably won't not taking the bike really messes with my routine.
Well it wasn't 60, 70 or 80 mph. It was blustery and it was wet, but I think I was expecting worse. But perhaps that was the calm before the storm? I woke up about 430AM and all was peaceful outside.
Plenty of black bags at haymarket discharging their contents across the road. One had polystyrene packing chips in it, was a bit of a blizzard.
All of the forecasts I have seen have said that it is going to get worse later on this afternoon. I ran this morning anyway and am getting the bus home.
Yeah, was more just a 'constant headwind' this morning. Gusts should send me home quickly! Although that's normally most fun round the back of the park, and the road might be closed.
All of THAT said, my brakes were mince this morning (I've got MTB pads in for crying out loud!) have to plan braking in advance to clear them of water, and THEN they bite really well.

Bit late to tell people if they've already gone to work not realising it's a 'holiday'!
Presume less traffic due to shut schools.
I knew it was a 'holiday' as Mel is off (I technically get next Monday, but I'm off out west then anyway), but hadn't realised the schools were also off (again!) till I hit the mean streets.
Ah, that explains why the 1 was more than 25 minutes away when its meant to be every ten minutes. 22 was still every 27 seconds.
Anyone else recall that the last time we had volcanic ash clouds, there was also foul rainy weather? I wonder if this Icelandic volcano is causing our May misery?
I can imagine the dust and gases ejected into the upper atmosphere block some sunlight and have a cooling effect, making it more likely to rain...
15 = 34MPH
I may be walking home. Got blown out of my lane on Harden place - must be a wind tunnel effect, as I was blown in the opposite direction to wind direction. Then waiting at end of Gilmore place turning right, I had to have both brakes on full just to stay upright. can't imagine what going back will be like.
Edinburgh schools are off until Thursday! Just been out for a lunchtime stroll, wind really getting up now - I don't like ditching the bike at work, but might consider it if it really does get much worse.
Just about got flattened walking up Gardeners Cresent from Morrison Street. Don't know what it is with that street but its all ways windy at that junction.
The sun's been out for an hour or so, but clouding up rapidly from the west out in South Gyle.
