Hi Abundancers. Here's an update for you.

Please reply directly to me or start a discussion on the discussion list (https://groups.google.com/group/abundance-edinburgh-spraff) if you want to respond to anything in the update. Please feedback too as to how you feel the group communication is going.

    Events coming up:

Abundance Wednesday 25th August, 6-9pm. Foraging/picking/flyering/scouting walks! All singing all dancing Abundance action! Rob, Ross and I will lead 3 separate walks in different parts of the city to do some scouting and flyering of private gardens with fruit trees as well as any foraging/picking available (possibly berries, possibly some wild apples and plums). Then we'll all meet centrally for a beverage. Rob's going to do his neighbourhood (starting in Hillside) and I'm keen to flyer the Grange/Newington and to go to the Hermitage of Braid. Ross has yet to pick an area, we'll get back to you. I'll e-mail meeting points once Ross has let me know.
If you want to join in, it'd be good if you could let me know so that we know who to wait around for. I can text you or call you if it's easier than checking e-mails.

Meadows Picnic, Saturday 27th August, 1-3pm. Hopefully we can do some foraging or picking in the morning to have some local fruit. Please let me know if you can help out.
Opportunities! If you're interested in doing any of these, please let me know:

Saturday 3rd September. Bridgend Inspiring Growth Community Skillshare, 2-5pm. Bridgend Inspiring is a local voluntary group working towards the renovation of Bridgend farmhouse to become a community owned and led multi-purpose centre promoting sustainable living practices and outdoor learning. They have asked if Abundance would like to run a workshop at their skill share afternoon (e.g. home brewing, foraging, jam making). In the Cameron Toll area. I can't make this but it'd be good to join in!

Saturday 3rd September. Midmar Allotment Open Day, 2-5pm. A good opportunity to check out a lovely allotment site and to spread the word about Abundance to potential pickers and tree owners. In the Blackford area.

Sunday 11th September. Federation of Edinburgh and District Allotment annual show, 1-2.30pm. Again, a chance to talk to allotmentiers about Abundance (and see some prize winning fruit and veg, I think!). Southside Community Centre on Nicholson Street.

Tuesday 20th September. Take One Action Cycle Powered Cinema, Botanic Gardens, 7pm. Meet a revolutionary family farm in the heart of urban Pasadena, California, in a food film event with a difference:Homegrown,The 21st Century Family Farm powered by the cycle-powered Solar Cinema. Take One Action are interested in Abundance doing something like hosting a stall or doing a demo of our equipment.

The harvest is almost upon us!

Looking forward to seeing some of you at some of the above,

    Valla
