CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

The rotters. I had been holding onto my TIE schematic for that section for months and months, and eventually chucked it in the recycling. Now they're planning to actually do the works?
Should still be able to get the plans from the relevant place, though I don't suppose much has changed in the spec in the past year.
not so good for that new bike repair place either i suppose
I cycled Russell Road earlier. Signs up both directions, closed from 4th September to "summer 2012"...
Didn't specify if it also applied to pavements.
I'm still trying to figure out how the diversion will work
UPDATE

@kaputnik It says 'Pedestrian/ cycle access maintained in both directions along Russell Road'.
So no need to worry then.
Now I understand. For whatever reason they need to claim (even more) of the embankment access from Russell Road to the Roseburn Path (after they chopped a couple of metres off the corner at some point last year).
They are closing the access slope up from Russell Road to the embankment. You will get onto the cycle way either from Balbirnie Place (behind old Texaco garage up steep slope) or from Coates Terrace (need a granny gear also here).
To get onto Russell Road from the path you will have to go via Roseburn, under the blue cast iron bridge and turn left past the pub on the corner. You will still be able to cycle under the Russell Road railway bridge.
"I'm still trying to figure out how the diversion will work"
Depends what you mean by "work".
"Pedestrian/ cycle access maintained in both directions along Russell Road"
Think that's an improvement on previous time this was planned.
IF any of this gets built it will make a nice cycle path from Haymarket to Corstorphine...
If your route takes you from Russell Road through Roseburn Park past Murrayfield you will be unaffected, but if you go from Russell Road up to the Roseburn path it will be a bit of a pain. It should have an interesting effect on Russell Road / Roseburn Street being used as rat run though. Residents of the tenements at Murieston will notice the benefit.

Kappers, were these signs on the road or at the cycle path exit/entrance? I cycled up the ramp yesterday and saw no signs, either at the Russell Road ramp or the next one along that it was going to be closed.
On the road, either side of the Railway bridge. There were no signs on the ramp from Russell Road, but according to the plans linked to above, that will be closed too. Ramp for Balbirnie Place will be open
Hmm. Think if it wasn't for this forum and I relied on that route to get to work I would be in for a nasty shock on Monday!
Maybe they aren't optimistic that the new 15th September date to renegotiate the contract with Burgerfinger Belding will be met
They should just do what they normally do and close and dig it up anyway.
B* - that's going to make the journey to Mary Erskines from Shandon interesting...
The pdf linked to above, shows the alternative accesses to the path. Not ideal obviously, but do-able?
but do-able?
Inconvenient yes, in terms of having to loop round onto the main road and turn back on yourself. You also want to prepare yourself into a very low gear as both the alternatives are very short but steep (there's a very good reason that the closed ramp with the more gentle gradient is so long it has to switch back on itself!)
Going north on the Roseburn path it would probably be better to use the access opposite Wester Coates Avenue than the granny gear ramp just by the bridge. At least it doesn't have ironmongery installed to make it difficult for trike riders.
"better to use the access opposite Wester Coates Avenue"

Came through here today, and discovered that it is not closed at all! All normal, as far as I could see.
I suspect things might happen on Monday.

will there be signs on the cycle path indicating diversions/path ahead closed?
Yes, they were putting out cones this morning. I'll see how much is open/closed on the way home this evening.
Updated openstreetmap to show the closed bits: http://osm.org/go/evfLIBBWn--
Is the cycle diversion signed?
I didn't see any diversion signs for bikes or cars.

I came down Morrison Street via Semple Street. Cyclists at the lights with Torphicen Street were saying that Grove Street was nose-to-tail cars and nothing moving.
