Was mowing the lawn in anticipation of being away a lot. :<

I don't like climbing hills, so I didn't go.

Just as well you live near the canal.

Every morning I take some soil from the top of Ashley Terrace, put it in two socks inside my trousers and discretely dump it at the bottom...that hill's days are numbered.
Posted 12 years ago # -
Careful you don't take the last bit of soil holding the canal bank together.

I'll give the black fix a spin tonight, I think. Probably won't be there till 6.25, that seems to be my usual actual arrival at the gate.

There was some genuine warmth out there at 3pm! I'm planning on heading out for a few lycra-clad laps tonight.
Posted 12 years ago # -
I'll have a whizz round on my way home from work tonight. When I say whizz actually I mean pootle ;-)

Didn't catch any CCE faces, although my ability to recognise anyone when on a bike is so poor that one day I expect to plough into a shiny office building because I didn't twig that the fuzzy dude approaching was in fact me.
Same ascent numbers using the black fix as last time I went up on wee blue floofy, although the headwind waited until you were further round the last bend tonight.
Did my three laps more or less continuously for a change.

I did four laps from about 6.40, but didn't recognise anyone. Got cramp in my calves by the end of lap two, then did two more just to make sure. That confirmed it was cramp. Really must improve my hydration strategy. I.e. Drink a lot more at work...

Today I settled for doing the commute three times.

Perhaps an uphill battle given the Kirkcaldy event but is anyone up for a round or two tonight?
Posted 12 years ago # -
I assent to an ascent. 6.25 at the loch sound reasonable?
Posted 12 years ago # -
Okay. If I get off early I might do a round before (how long does it take?)
Posted 12 years ago # -
14 minutes, unless you're faster or slower than that.
Posted 12 years ago # -
"unless you're faster or slower than that"
Impeccable logic!
Posted 12 years ago # -
Eeek! It's hailing. I will wait before setting out.
Posted 12 years ago # -
Was about to head to hill but hailstorm is not so nice... Plus no mudguards... Getting brighter but still wet.
Posted 12 years ago # -
We caught in the worst of it. Bare arms and hands were perhaps a suboptimal choice on my part. Ow and brr. We did two laps then agreed with the weather that it was time to be indoors. 3.55 and 3.48, which given the tailwind at the top is disappointing. Must do more Kaimes work.

Good times ... I'd be happy to go sub four minute. May have to borrow an electric bike...;-)
I ended up going towards 7 on the ICE Vortex trike as the sun came back out. It's not mine really but had to have last go to see how slidey it was round the corners.
I was shown up to be an amateur by a young guy on a Condor road bike.
No sign of amir or uberbruce - must have been just finishing when I arrived.Posted 12 years ago # -
@uberuce Presume the start line for your times is the gate at the bottom of the hill. Is the finish the start of the parking bay by the upper loch where the hill levels off?
Posted 12 years ago # -
I thought the times were lap times. Then I recalled that you do 3 laps in an hour not quater of an hour. Do people use Strava to record their laps and sections etc?
Posted 12 years ago # -
Aye, I don't pay huge attention to my overall lap times.
I use the bush that divides the first and second parking bays, so a little bit beyond the east end of Dunsapie Loch. If you're of Google Earth ilk, it's the one at 3°09'11" W.

LaidBack has kindly(?) offered me the chance to test the singlespeed Paper Bicycle up Kaimes Road, so I hereby put out a plea for company on this venture, which might as well be on Tuesday. People who enjoy pointing and laughing are more than welcome...

Flying down lying down sounds like worth the climb, Im in.
Posted 12 years ago # -
oh, Im out again!
Posted 12 years ago # -
Tempted actually. I don't think I've got anything on tomorrow night, so could spin along. Wouldn't be hanging about (in the sunshine there's some long-awaited DIY to be done, and can let the chooks out to free range), but would be fun to try it again and see if I can get to the top without stopping for a breather (my one and only ride up the hill thus far resulted in failure on that score).
Could I put up with the humiliation of Strava-ing it?

I'm hoping to be out on a hill tomorrow evening, but it may just be Arthur's Seat - not sure if I fancy battling the rush hour to get all the way across to Kaimes when AS is so much closer to home.
Unless we're looking at a slightly later start for Kaimes? What's the ETA at the bottom?
Posted 12 years ago # -
LaidBack shuts up shop at 6, so assuming he's willing and able to supply the device tomorrow, it'll begin at 6.XX, where XX is travelling time from LBB to Kaimes Road.
