  1. Ah, see, the slightly later start is actually a little more awkward for me.... I'll see what I can do!

My DOMS still haven't worn off, so I think I'll consider discretion the better of valour for today. Not seen any sign of LBB, come to think of it.

Ah, just when I'd decided to brave the commuter traffic on Costorphine Road and give Kaimes a try on the road bike...

Back to Plan A, or rather Plan AS: lap the seat.

Won't be going up hills today. Got evening thing planned. Single speed PB is here for anyone to test ride. Am packing up large box this pm at shop.

Other new model I have is an Airnimal Joey Commute folder with 24 inch wheels and an Alfine 8 speed with rapidfire shifters.
Has a rack and guards too. Like a big Brompton - you do have to remove front wheel though.

Will aim to join you in order to see if a couple of weekends of hauling panniers around the Lake District has had any noticeable effect on my climbing.

Not sure, with the current Strava dilemma, how I feel about this. But as I haven't got a time yet, I might try and show up and see if I meet anyone :)

And since Strava requires you to have ridden a section before flagging it, you could tell the teachers on this naughty one:

    http://app.strava.com/segments/1180258

The 'if your brakes fail, you're basically horsed' part of the ride.

The majority of the time made (or lost) on the Strava sections are from the uphill climbs - even including that one highlighted above.

The only unsafe bit of that section is the last 200m or so. I would say most people coast this bit after putting the initial effort in - even the guys at the top of the leaderboard.

Can't make it tonight - knackered from too much cycling plus plenty of tasks to do at home.

PS fairly powered on like a sir on the climb at lap 3.

I didn't reset my speedo, so I'm not sure what my time was. Good start, but I gave up once I knew I wasn't going to get a time from it. Laps one and two were 4.1something and 3.52. Keep getting 3.52 for some reason.

I've uploaded to Strava and it's awarded me a 3.15 for the climb! I can heartily recommend the Lake District training block for your pre-Arthur's Seat needs.

Must come back with less hunger, more legs and lighter bike in that case! What is the section that Strava is using for the course?

I would swear blind the first time I looked at the segment it went round Dunsapie until the end point's tangent to the loch was directly north/south, but last night's awesome display by PS, as well as the other 207 entrants, is listed as using roughly the same endpoint I do - the bush that divides the first and second parking bays.

There are at least three segments on the climb, they start and end at slightly different places.

*raises hoof* I've got a shiny afternoon off, so I care not a jot for start time this week.

Maybe, if I get back from Glasgow in time.

Did a cheeky Hilly Monday in celebration of the fact it wasn't raining. 3.17. Headwind. :( I really shouldn't have signed up to Strava...

Ach, bum. Sorry we missed your post and therefore self, LB. Well, maybe PS and ruggtomcat met you on laps 3 and/or 4.

I took black fruity out for a change, and broke the 4 minute mark on it, which is pleasant enough, but I'd been a silly tartlet with hydration and started cramping up, so I bailed like a liff, only with less uplifting of tellies, and come 'ome.

    POW! Podium. :D
    Ouch

I had pins and needles in both my arms and my legs at the end. That was not pleasant.
