My brother once super glued a wound shut. Don't know which is worse to be honest...

Isn't superglue widely used to seal wounds in the medical profession? I'm less sure on the NHS's view on duck tape. Hope it heals fast Dave.

An enjoyable few climbs and nice to see everyone out. Lovely evening.

Duck/Duct tape is an essential in any 1st aid kit.

Superglue is indeed used instead of stitches sometimes.

PS - did you bump into the Hervelo boys and girls again?

Dave - They do use glue to close wounds these days, and yes it is similar to superglue. You will be inconvenienced but do suggest that you go the A&E to get that sorted, and a tetanus booster if you cannot remember when your last one was, 10 years or more and you need another. It sounds like it needs sutured and not glued. Nasty and it will start to hurt...

Yes Dave let your shifter be the only thing that needs amputated please.

owwwwwwww Dave, get thee to a doctor. Hope you (and the bike) heal up soon!

Very nice to see/meet everyone tonight. Great lights from Anth and great sound effects from Uberuce.

@druidh Yes. Recognised them going the other way on the second lap, then was distressed to see them sprint off just as we got to the top of the hill on the third lap - no way I was going to catch them. However, said hello after blinding them with my undipped light when they came back again.

They Blinded me on my solitary 4th lap....

So who was there? Anth was unmistakeable
    Laidback was recumbent
    Kaputnik I've met before
Uberuce on the Mikka Hakkinen Rally bike ??
    Mabs on the ridgeback ??
then we had a birdy and a velo ecosse?

    I was on the Birdy.

I recognised, some but not all. Didn't help that it was dark.

Velo Ecosse was me. Apologies for my lack of social skills (and to you too cb) - I should have introduced myself. Although it is difficult sometimes to remember manners while huffing and puffing so much.

Recombodna, I'm assuming that was you on the lovely old steel frame, wearing a rather dapper pair of gloves?

Ah my old moto cross gloves have served me well over the years but alas they are starting to show finger.......

I was on the flaming bowl of Rice Krispies, yarp.

I'm giving it a rest till the ice comes and am on the grandpa roadster. If I've not rescued my old racer from retirement by Tuesday I'll be on that instead, methinkles.

I was on another ridgeback (blue) and going very slowly downhill (only just keeping up with Uberuce on his fixie). I think I am just visible in Anth's photo above, second from right with 3 bright lights and bare legs. Hope it is warmer next time!

I am the dull single light on the left, because the standlight was running down.

"because the standlight was running down. "

    How long does it last?

  17. Seriously tempted by those phallic bar end lights after seeing them in operation...

They seem to last a while. Minutes rather than seconds. (Has anyone measured?)

"Over four minutes" according to one site.

    ow long does it last?

3 - 5 minutes. Haven't timed. It gets progressively duller.

I haven't been to see anyone, it seemed to be closed up OK when I took a peek this morning.

My shifter was dispatched first thing, so I'm optimistic I'll be able to fix up the bike before PY Fri, although not sure that I'll be able to ride it.

Need to darn my shorts too, got a slice right through them when I looked closely!

    Dave,

A friend diving in the red sea with us a few years ago had to leave his leg overnight before seeking treatment. Its healed but its an awfull scar now. Hope you got 'stitched up' by some competent medic before leaving the wound too long.

I'll be the first to get my excuses in: dinner with my girlfriend; too lazy to change tyres and flipflop bike#1; inadequate brakes on bike#2; no wheels, chain, freewheel, front chainring or acceptable bottom bracket on bike #3.

Roibeard: I hope this doesn't deprive you of a power plant volunteer. Very sorry if so.

Men wanted for hazardous journey. Low wages, bitter cold, long hours of complete darkness. Safe return doubtful. Honour and recognition in event of success.

Seeing as I'm lacking an Uberuce, anyone foolhardy enough to volunteer?

    Two major caveats:

    1. I might not manage more than once round
    2. The Pino might not manage round at all!

I've had some transmission problems, that I think I've resolved, but it needs a stress test, and a run up (and down) Arthur's Seat would be ideal.

PM me if you fancy being carried sedately up and scarily down...

Oops, this has already got a reputation for being too testosterone filled, and it appears I'm only looking for "Men"...

Not true, the Pino runs equally well with a mixed team, apart from the traditional cry of "she's not pedaling" being inappropriate...

I shall be there, but (no offence to Roibeard!) I prefer to take my life in my own hands :) I may do five to make up for only 3 last week.

I'll be there but prefer to cycle around on my bike as it is just an extension of my commute. Not sure how many laps as depends on whether I need to fix the sink (nasty accident in the middle of night). Will be grinding up on the Bianchi hub geared hybrid due to rain this morning.

Bicycle parking is available at Pollock, so easy enough to join the tandem there.

Just to remove the mid-commute objections...

    ;-)

If anyone else can't make the 18:15 version I'll probably be popping out and up and round (returning through Meadowfield Drive) at about 21:30 if I complete my chores.

Robert - I'll have a go sometime if I can manage it, but not tonight, as will be on train on way back from London!
