I can safely say that I hadn't a clue about fixies before they became fashionable. So I'm a catcher upper Johnny come lately and certainly not hip in that department. (Anyway I have a single speed, which is kinda cheating).
However I did know all about utility cycling and cargo bikes before they became a craze: does that make me some kind of eco-hipster surfing a meme of car-free smugness?
What the hell. I've always loved bikes and probably always will. If young hipsters like them too, great, let's hope they stick with it instead of moving on to scooters, mopeds, or cars.
