Just to gauge how many people might come to a coffee meeting at Zazou on Friday 17th Feb. It is not set in stone yet as it would require special opening if there are enough people.

So it would be Zazou, on the canal at Ashley Terrace at 8am in the morning Friday 17th for coffee.

    (also being discussed here)

I don't know if this is a problem, but when I passed it this morning it had a 'closed for repairs' sign on. I don't know how long it'll be closed for (might just be a few hours?).

Not on this occasion coz the kids are on holiday and I have no reason to be up and about at that ungodly hour. Zazou is on my doorstep as well I would gladly meet for coffee one morning although I can never get there ti 9am.

I didn't realise they sold puncture kits. I have seen a revolution track bike parked up there though.

    Lionfish:

    Oh really? D'oh!

It could still be possible to go for another time though. :-) That is why I added a "maybe next time" type option to the poll.

  5. It's one I can make (no idea how far down the canal that it, but given my work is just a bit past the basin it's an easy ride to the office afterwards).

  9. Cheers recombodna - in which case, nae bother at all!

PY remains easier, but just means if we split into two coffee factions I can have a toe in both! ;)

Difficult for me as I need to be at my desk by 9 at the latest, and it's a wee way from there to Ocean Point. Still, I daresay I could pop in, arriving at 8am on the dot...

If I can get through Russell Road up towards Dalry I can make it but its no on my route and I'll have a cross town journey which I hate at the best of times.

It's the schools half term, so I'll be away on Friday - another time is grand!

Early birds bring flasks and enjoy on a bench by the canal?

Actually my last post jogs a memory of a discussion that I may have had with anth that one morning we could do a BYOB (bring your own breakfast) coffee meet, with flasks and muffins etc. Of course depends on nice weather, but it would be nice, particularly by canal or some similar such venue. Think anth had designs on bringing his stove and espresso pot too.

Would there not be a risk of being beset by uncontrolled bacon-hounds by the canal?

"Absolutely - cooked breakfast on a summer morn!"

    Bike Week??

    Saturday would be more leisurely.

"Early birds bring flasks and enjoy on a bench by the canal?"

Could do but this does bring us back to the "freezing to death" scenario that brought up Zazou as a possibility in the first place over the one that sits in the basin!

    "Bike Week?"

Didn't someone suggest having a wee picnic on the central reservation of Princes Street or something like that? What about a series of mini-breakfasts throughout the week in nicely prominent places (such as the courier lunch-steps in Charlotte Square, if traffic's going past there again by then) where people stuck in cars can observe the tasty coffee and muffins in the fresh air and covet both the foodstuffs and the ability to stuff them away with relative impunity.

If someone had an urn, we could arrange a couple of trailers with seats, hot beverages and snacks and do a mobile meet up...

When is Bike Week? I'm going to register as an organiser and we can sort out 5 locations for brekkie, one for each morning. Just relaxed, informal, meet for a chat - BYOB (Bring Your Own Breakfast).

The revolution track bike in green belongs to the barge owner.
He has been closed for a while, battery troubles with the boat.
Might not be open by next week. I have emailed him so will keep you posted.
Love the idea of extreme breakfasts and have camping stoves x 3 plus portable espresso put and metal cups... It. Is. On.

I'm on holiday next week, so I'll more than likely make it along. It will be good not to have to rush off, just as things are getting going.

I have a good wee primus folding Gaz stove and a medium-sized Moka Express pot good for making probably 4 Americano base shots. I have a stove-top Pyrex milk frother, but not sure it would take the gas flame, think it's for low heat on an electric plate.

Camping stove here, too. Not a desperately good one, but it boils things reasonably fast.

If he's not fixed his battery by Friday, we could just use my kitchen? That does give a definite 9am stopping point, since I'll have to go all worky then.
