I am looking for help to promote my fundraising efforts.
On the 24rd April rugby star Lawrence Dallaglio & cricketer Freddie Flintoff will embark on a mammoth 2872Km cycle from Athens in Greece. The route will see them through Italy, the Swiss Alps, French Countryside and finishing in London at The Olympic Stadium on May 18th.
I am a manager at Pizza Express in Ocean Terminal and as Pizza Express is the main fundraising partner, we donate 25p for every American Hot pizza bought, I was given the opportunity to go into a ballot to win a place to take part in this amazing fitness & fundraising challenge.
On the 15th May I will join Lawrence, Freddie & the other 14 core riders including names such as Lee Dixon & Graeme Le Saux to complete the 5th & final stage.
Leaving from Nancy in the heart of the French country side we will pass through Reims and take in the famous St. Quentin to Roubaix 153Km ‘Hell of the North’ route over farm tracks and cobbles, finishing in London on the 18th May. The final stage over 4 days will cover 578Km.
Apart from the fitness challenge, as part of the lucky few between Pizza Express, Virgin & Halfords employees given the opportunity to take part, my biggest challenge is to raise £3000. With the help of some of the other Pizza Express restaurants in Edinburgh we will be holding various internal fundraising events over the next couple of months. I also have a meeting with the management of the Genting Casino in Leith this week to arrange a charity poker evening.
A little information on myself.
I’m 38 and although not new to cycling I would refer to myself as a recreational/commuter rather than your typical keen road cyclist.
Although not a cancer survivor, I was treated with a Bone Marrow Transplant 16 years ago due to a blood disorder which affected the body and therefore involved treatment very similar to people suffering with Leukaemia.
Fundraising is through the page Donation Here Please
