  1. Min?!?

If it was you in the Innocent Tunnel this morning my apologies for not responding! I'd had some bother with the bike, and was running late, so was head down in a world of my own. It was only a matter of seconds after you passed that I thought, "Ooh, was that Min?" but a few seconds was all it needed for you to be flying away down the tunnel!

Hello, yes you were waved at. :-) I was aware that someone else was behind me and I didn't want to slow down so I just waved anyway, reckoning you would figure it out afterwards!

"reckoning you would figure it out afterwards!"

    Anth's smart like that...

Sorry is that against the rules?

RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

Yes it is. You're going to have to ban yourself.

Perhaps we should have some sort of 'CityCyclingEdinburgh' signal to identify and acknowledge fellow posters here as we pootle through town.

A flag or a uniform perhaps?

I was thinking that perhaps I could wear a frog costume. It will attract Anth's attention plus anyone else who happens to be from the forum and will know that I have taken to cycling round dressed as a frog. The problem being that it may be hard to separate reactions from forumites and general observers of frog costume wearing cyclists. Plus it will be hard to pedal in it.

I have a t-shirt a pal gave me off t'internet - it is grey. It has a bike where the front wheel has turned into a PAcman, it is about to eat a car. If we all acquired such t-shirts and wore them at all times then we would have quite good recognition without too many false positives and it is not as extreme as the frog costume.

Good plan. The t-shirt sounds cute and if we really did wear them all the time, the smell would add an extra recognition factor.

Yes, I was thinking that we needed a secret wave! (less odoriferous perhaps :)

Not since Livingstone and Stanley has there been a more anticipated meeting. You will record your first words together?

Genius - like a secret handshake? This is all very Calvin and Hobbes G.R.O.S.S stuff...
Might I be the first to suggest a fish type wiggle with the right hand

I'm not fond of the tshirt idea mainly because I tend to wear a high vis thing on top of whatever I am wearing and I have to be all trendy and wear a cycle vest to keep cool

    Or a badge?

How about we all print this and stick it to the handlebars and rear mud guard?

Spytfyre, I know it's a sort of 3-D barcode, but what the heck does it actually represent? I could never see stereograms either.

Perhaps we should congregate at the Sheep Heid one evening and each wear a t-shirt with our own pseudonym on it.

@Arellcat - as discussed on the "about this site" thread where I asked what it is... have a look down the left hand side of this page... it's the Quick Reader Code for this website
They are popping up all over the place and if your phone has web and a camera you can snap these and it takes you to the site

    "uniform perhaps"

    From Twitter

Sheep Heid very good. T-shirt top at top of Cockburn street also good. I got them to make me a t-shirt with AD / HD on it (the bit in the middle is the AC/DC lightning strike.

I wear it to ADHD work things.

Could we all agree on a font to have our names printed in .......

It would be much more fun guessing ;-)

Yes, as it is often quite hard guessing the gender from the name...which is a good thing about this forum.

I'd suggest we pick our own fonts and/or design. For example, Laid Back and Anth already have their own "corporate style", and those of us who write a blog might want to incorporate elements of that too. Or not. I just thought of a groovy design for myself actually.

Gembo, is it Fabrick or Liberation that did your t-shirt?

"which is a good thing about this forum"

    OK...

I think I know the gender of all (regular) posters - some have clearly given away indications in posts. I'm just glad that there are a reasonable number of people who happen to be female - you wouldn't expect 50/50 on a cycle forum!

I'm even more pleased that is 99.9% friendly and a bit surprised at how many people are normalish cycle commuters/people who travel by bike when it's convenient - as opposed to hard-core factionistas.

Gembo's mention of an AC/DC font for a t-shirt got me thinking. Here's my personalised design (apologies to any AC/DC fans):

  29. Clearly my brain wasn't switched on this morning. We got closer to an actual meeting this morning on the Innocent Path. I realised early enough that it was Min, and Min me, to exchange a 'hello'.

It took a second for the brain to kick in to stop (combination of a rider behind her I didn't want to block, and being on a different bike with different pedals and shoes and not having had a coffee in the morning meaning I had to think every time I came to a halt). By the time I was at rest and turned round I caught sight of Min, having already stopped to see if I would, turning back to the east and setting off towards a toppled bit of tree.

So close and yet so far! Sorry Min! (and I'm probably not going to be on the bike tomorrow...)

  30. p.s. I should add that I still have no idea what Min looks like as the face was obscured by ninja-scarf wrapping.
