Ouch. I hope neither of you are put off by this. Commiserations to you and stoker.

Eech, hope generally okay isn't too general.
Posted 12 years ago # -
Hope all is (relatively) well.
As you say its inevitable but pretty scary when the little ones are on board.

I'm just hoping none of the car drivers post on the EEN...

No problemo just glad to help....Hope yer ok and it looked a lot worse than it was. I've never liked that sound of rider and bike sliding along the ground. Your stoker is VERY brave!!!

Anyway, shoulder/arm becoming more usable, slowly, and big scrape on knee. otherwise okay. jeans filthy from knee to hip, which reveals what happened.
cycling in sun-shower...should've known better than to take corner too tight/too fast - road v. greasy (now all over my 'good' jeans). There was a car behind me, and I should've pulled over to kerb like Recombodna did, but instead I went for the turn...and splat.

Nasty. Hope you recover quickly.

I hope you are both okay! Get some antisceptic on those grazes!
Posted 12 years ago # -
Ouch, I nearly did that at Balgreen roundabout the other day. Only
my mad mountain biking skillzdumb luck kept me upright.Posted 12 years ago # -
Ooh rotten luck. Sympathies to you and stoker and fingers crossed for quick recovery, now get back on it before you stiffen up! ;-)

"get back on" urgh. have to go fetch stoker at noon. hope she is feeling better than me.
her main concern - after initial upset -- was broken mirror. "I know, maybe on mother's day, we can go see Laidback and see if he has a new one for you" :)

"...hope she is feeling better than me."
If she is, make her steer if your arms got bashed. Hope you experience reduced soreness shortly.

ouch. The roads were very greasy after that shower
I admit I was papping myself and cycling very gingerly!Posted 12 years ago # -
Commiserations SRD - I've managed an off on with littlest one too, and I don't think he even noticed...
In my case it was leaves covering gully, so slipped off the main path and hence lost steering.
If you want a substitute pilot for noon, drop me a PM and we'll sort you out.

"Get back on" said, of course, in a sympathetic way not a bolshie one! :-/ glad little ones main concern is the mirror, that's easily fixed :-)

Sorry to hear that - savlon and ibuprofen!!!!
I had something very similar on gritty slippy roads a month or so ago. Horrible.
Hope stoker feels better!

smudge - entirely understood. just dreading the backk and forth.
roibeard - thanks, we'll manage. mr srd stuck in the haymarket tailbacks. almost had to ask if you'd put a video on in dht for me, but have found someone :)

SRD - sorry to hear this. You are not having much luck on the bike/weather front. Take it easy out there.
Posted 12 years ago # -
Both times, my own fault for not taking more care/surfaces into consideration [possibly also something about the geometry of the helios front wheel that I need to be more wary of]. I'll learn my lesson!
Still after 3 years of no accidents, I suppose it comes out even if I get another 3 years without...

Get well soon SRD, and miniSRD!
I fell off my bike on a greasy left-turn, in about 1994. I lost my nerve for wet weather cornering until about, oh, this week, when I watched the Hairy Bikers goin' dead canny like on the mountain passes of their Norwegian tour. If they were taking it slowly, maybe I shouldn't feel so bad about it either.

Sorry to hear... should have a mirror for you.
Glad your co-pilot isn't discouraged. People drive to Glentress every weekend just to fall off their bikes! I know they don't have cars on the paths though..!

Hope you feel better soon - it's always a shock to be reminded how incredibly hard tarmac is.
Posted 12 years ago # -
Och, sorry to hear that SRD and hope the main damage is bruised ego and dirtied clothes. At least there wasn't a crowd of 12 people watchign you like my "clipless" moment during the photoshoot (I now have a row of little chainring scabs up the back of my right thigh!)
Posted 12 years ago # -
what no photo-montage?
Posted 12 years ago # -
If it's any consolation, I had a "failure to unclip" moment on the mtb whilst seeking out a geocache yesterday, having been reminded that my rusty mtb "skilz" aren't up to clipless pedals I reverted to flats on the mtb last night (blushes). Def no photos though :-D

Just as well you were wearing jeans, much tougher than a lot of bike stuff. Cycle chic wins the day....
Posted 12 years ago # -
mmmm...not so chic, but...big hole gouged out of my knee - no damage to the jeans :)
Posted 12 years ago # -
oh ouch, only just seen this - hope you're recovering okay
