Looks outrageously windy. Might be going for the big rectangular bike that has "Lothian Buses" written on it.

The only good thing about this weather is the wind is in the "correct" direction for those of us commuting UP Leith Walk and the Bridges - a helpful hand for the larger gentleman.

Is the train a member of this forum? Surely it should be concentrating on its job rather than texting?

maybe it can multi-task? It is concerning if phoning whilst driving has spread to the railway engines? Thomas on his mobi etc.

Well that was a bit of a soggy, freezing, shotblasted-in-the-side-of-my-face commute. The monster tail wind at one stage was fun as I cruised easily along the road at 28mph. Only trouble is, I have to go in the other direction later on. :-(

I saw one car with piles of snow falling off its roof, but I think it'd come from the M8 and somewhere Perthwards.

    Bus/taxi this afternoon?

I relented this morning and got the bus, i can cope with the rain and, to a point snow, but 50mph gusts from the side really put me off. By the looks of this afternoon i think i'm about to be vindicated.

Wind looks like its to ease off a bit tomorrow though.

I had a meeting and had to get to work quick and with a cold I was not tempted by the bike so a taxi it was...
    forecast looks messy tonight

I cycled in today and it was horrendous. Horrible gusts coming down North Bridge nearly toppled me. I think I'll leave my bike at work in the secure storage and bus it back home as it looks too horrid to cycle back :-(

Must be the calm before the storm.

Wandering round town taking pictures of puddles and things, smug in my waterproofs. Probably too many layers.

Was nice to get blown up Dundas Street and along Queen Street (not racetrack hour). A gentle push up North Charlotte Street was a real treat.

    Looks like fun, not!

Severe Blizzards, Severe Drifting Snow & Very Heavy Snowfall:

Rain and sleet will quickly turn to snow this evening and become prolonged and very heavy at times and persist tonight. The snow will quickly drift in the strong to gale force North wind with blizzard conditions developing in many areas. Over upland areas severe blizzards will develop with severely reduced visibility at times. Snow accumulations will vary largely across the region, with typically 15cm, but upland inland areas outwith Edinburgh City, especially towards the Pentland and Lammermuir hills could catch 30 to 50cm with deep drifts. However coastal parts of East Lothian and especially around the coast to Berwick will catch notably less snow. Many roads are liable to become impassable and some interruptions to power supplies are possible.

The public are advised to take extra care and refer to Traffic Scotland for further advice on road conditions.

No snow despite me having ridiculous off road tyres on today :-(
There was plenty of weather though! I was even wearing my wet gloves as seen in the Flikr group :-))

Has to be said, from the side the wind was easier to deal with than on a motorbike, from the front though it's not fun.
I'm in the huff with the weather anyway since my (motor)bike got blown over last night and did expensive things to itself :-((

I almost went sideways when I hand-signalled my intention to change lane on North Bridge this morning. Luckily the wind blew me into the appropriate lane...

North Bridge is scary when it's windy.

I saw the Water of Leith earlier on and it is HOOOOGE.

Can be iffy (northbound) with leapfrogging buses and all those covers right on the white line at the side of the bus lane.

Small person apparently sang 'Bob the builder: can we do it? yes we can!' all the way to nursery today, but was given reprieve and collected by bus.

that was a horrendous cycle from Ingliston to Leith tonight. Big winds and chunks of ice, never got on the big ring all the way to roseburn. Think that was pretty much the worst one.

Water of Leith looking very, very high where i got off it.

Min, your bus comment just got tweeted by @on_lothianbuses
