I'm planning on a mass handlebar flyering of the larger gatherings of bikes near my commute route so: RIE, KB and George Sq.

Is anyone else planning on targeting these areas so I don't duplicate effort ?

Where else should we be promoting PoP ? Another thread appears to be addressing the primary schools and the Union Canal appears to be well postered. How about MMW ? Leith Walk ? Water o Leith Walkway ?

I'm going to try and do handlebar flyering around Leith Walk/Easter Road area as and when time/weather allows. No point leaving a soggy bit of paper on someone's bike!

I thought I might do Waverley Station at some point, if BTP don't lift me in the process as suspected bike thief!

    My plans are:

    1) South Morningside Primary for leafleting; probably Monday.

    b) Gyle workplace bike parks. I've already done the NHS building since I work there, so will see about the others. Let's hope my skills at sweet-talking security guards are up to scratch. Tuesday.

Fourth) Dyeing my beard grey, camping the Inglis aqueduct while wearing a grey robe, bellowing YOU CANNOT PASS to everyone, cyclist or not, until they take a leaflet. Wednesday.

After that I'll see how many I have left.

@kaputnik I was going to bagsy Waverley for Monday lunchtime but I'll take Haymarket instead if you think you'd look less suspicious than me.

I'd be happy to leaflet the bikes in the bike store for Ed Uni's Informatics Forum and Dugald Stewart buildings:

if nobody else has done that.

I've brought a small roll of them for the PortoVelo ride in just under an hour.

@SRD Thanks! - though come to think of it I can probably print some out myself from http://pedalonparliament.org/resources/
Somebody might email the Uni's cycling mailing lists too?

I've just made some flyers, but they're a bit odd - there's stray print on both sides (e.g. obscuring the PARLIAMENT). Also the text side ends:

I've got lots of 'proper' flyers; can pigeonpost or bring them by you tomorrow.

Can anyone who can help handlebar flyer the RIE get in touch? there are so many bikes out there - shame not to cover them!

@cc - are these the handlebar flyers? They were okay last time I printed them, I'll have a look. What printer are you using?

@CC @Sallyhinch if it's the double sided handlebar flyer, I imagine your printer might be duplexing them the "wrong" way? You might have to print one side then manually flip paper and do the other, unless you can tell it which way to duplex (i.e. long or short side).

@cc and others - don't worry about it. I can do them for you tomorrow. not a prob!

@SRD Thanks! I've sent you a PM (my first!).

@sallyhinch @kaputnik it may be something to do with the printing software we're using just not reacting well to that particular PDF. I was printing from a Linux computer through some version of CUPS to a "multi function device" big Canon beastie.

I printed mine from Preview on a Mac to a big networked Canon copier/scanner/printer and they turned out fine. Must be that Linux box of yours...

Has anyone put handlebar fliers on the bikes outside Musselburgh QMU yet? If not I could do that today.

  23. Not that I've heard of, go for your life! I'm doing my work today, and will do a wee blitz of somewhere on the way to work, and somewhere on the way home from work, each day this week.

Bike racks at Haymarket been done?

Actually, probably doesn't hurt to do some places twice to catch anyone not caught first time!

@anth I'll get Haymarket at lunchtime.

Anyone ever seen any Spokes flyers on bikes at Waverley?

I have not noticed any flyers on the bikes at Haymarket (though I don't leave my bike there myself). If you're struggling to get someone to do them, I could - though we'd have to work out how to get them to me.

Edit - just seen winpig's post. Ignore me.

I am doing my office bikeshed today, will make a few detours on way home via bruntsfield / marchmont to do a bunch more - always plenty bikes at the Tesco Holy Corner etc.

My wife is doing Sciennes PS bike shed this morning.

I've just printed out handlebat flyers from the website - little bit easier to attach to every bike than a wee A5 sheet, and less litter should someone just rip one off.

@SRD @amir - Great, sounds like you guys have George Sq. and KB covered. I will hit the stands at RIE - probably Wednesday.

I've just started! Just done my building on George Square (wonder how long they stay up). I'll try to put some along the canal tomorrow/wednesday - not sure how to fix them to the wall (also will need to make them waterproof). Where else in town needs doing? I'll give GS a blitz, but I'm sure others will be focusing there too. I've handed out a few leaflets etc to some friends for onward distribution...

Really annoyed that I can't actually make the ride :/ It should be fantastic! Well done to the organisers of all this :)
