"stripping the last of the berries from some of the trees"
Hope they haven't found my 'secret' holly bushes that had masses of berries last week...
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

Was one at Drumsheugh Gardens. Show above - or below if someone can do the honours.
"Anthony had a fantastic photo in yesterday's EN."
Would that be the one a few posts above? :-)
It was indeed.
Hope they haven't found my 'secret' holly bushes
Waxwings need to panic buy feed too!
Teal and Goldeneye among the usual suspects on Duddingston Loch today (my first ever Teal), and a nice Bullfinch in Holyrood Park (which, I noticed, wasn't closed to traffic today for some reason, which was a pain since the path hadn't been cleared, and was sheltered from the sun in many places making walking difficult).
Anyway, does anyone still have the Evening News from yesterday? They didn't let me know it was going to be in (might be in my work email, but I don't check that as a rule over the weekend) so I don't have a copy... :(

THEY escaped from the zoo over two decades ago, leaving frustrated staff to debate their fate over the years.
Now two cheeky herons who flew the coop in the late 1980s have stunned staff and visitors by showing up at their birthplace over 20 years later - to nick fish from the sea lions.

Well I thought I was doing well with a Goldcrest (good photo) and a Goosander (not bad photo) on the Water of Leith, till a very nice lady pointed out that on the other side of the bridge from where I was shooting Mr Goosander there was a Kingfisher. Not a great photo, but I've got one...
I saw the waxwings photo on the BBC Scotland website too.
I like how it looks like it is trying to hide from you.
And you got the gold crest on the Goldcrest! Cute.
Yeah, kept on willing him to turn round, got three or four with the crest really visible.
@Ctyclingmollie - was chuffed with being the first picture in the list on the BBC site!
Now you're just showing off!!
(What did you use to keep it there...)
Superglue...
I staked out the same spot as yesterday and after about 20 (cold) minutes it landed virtually under me. I got off a few shots, then it flew back around the building it was beside. I was checking what I had when it flew back out, and over the bridge 5 yards from me (damn, wish I'd been ready! But was having to use quite a slow shutter). I walked up the river and had it dart out of a hiding place a couple of times.
I am this.... :)
"I am this.... :)"
Good
Patience is...
(Especially in this weather!)
This thread is mis-named. Should be called the "anth takes pictures of pretty birds*" thread.
* = Open to interpretation of what constitutes a bird?
"Open to interpretation of what constitutes a bi**?"
Needs to have two wheels.
otherwise its a tribble?
"otherwise its a tribble?"
That's an animal not a bi**.
Anth - just like to say how much I am enjoying your pictures! Where did you see the goldcrest? Keep up the good work.
Cheers
Colin
not got time to take pics at work but, fish farm type puddle thing, next to m9,eastbound just after queensferry cut of,two little deer watched as i rolled past, then stright back on to the important business of eating grass.
I'll save folk the pics today, but Kingfisher again, some beautiful Redwings, Buzzard, Sparrowhawk, Goosander, Wren, very poseur Robin and Grey Wagtail on today's lunchtime wander...
Cute flock of LTTs on the Innocent yesterday plus a pair of
Bullfinches-males VERY bright in the snow. Difficult to see
birds in the garden today as they are all hiding behind lumps
of snow.
Now you're just showing off!!
(What did you use to keep it there...)
It's nailed to the perch...
Yay, Redwings at last!
Like MILLIONS of them. Huge flock in the garden all day plus
they are everywhere I go outside as well. They have already
demolished the firethorns.
A solitary fieldfare, competing with a pied wagtail and a blackbird for the remaining berries on a bush. Just past South Gyle station as I was pushing the bike over the unplowed road up to the station car park.
