@crowriver yeah, I should have done that! I'll hand out some more responsibilities in a bit. I need to get the momentum back into the scheme!

I think a FB group for each ride makes more sense... but it could get confusing...

    ...what do you think?

@spytfyre: I've not checked the rest of the forum yet... I'll see if CCE's been behaving itself.

Ok there's five central-ish wards that haven't got organisers yet:

    Corstorphine/Murrayfield (ward 6)
    Sighthill/Stenhouse/Saughton (ward 7)
    Morningside/Bruntsfield (ward 10)
    Craigentinny/Duddingston (ward 14)
    Southside/Newington (ward 15)

if anyone's in these areas and wants to help organise a ride, please get in touch. Thanks!

btw: I submitted these rides as an event to the bike week page. It will also be mentioned in the SPOKES leaflets or spokes worker coming out in the next week or two. So it might be good to have the rides sorted out before too long.

finally: I made my local bike ride its own facebook page, it might be good for the other organisers to make their own, so we can see who's going from where. Hope that's not going to make things too complicated...

ps: all three councillors from my ward are coming on the ride! Let's see if we can do this in every ward!

@wingpig, which route do you think the Leith ride should go? Currently we stuck it up Leith Walk, but not sure if that's the best route?
Also do you want to make a facebook group for your ride? :)

Oh, someone suggested I get the thing a twitter account (and invent a hashtag...). Will have to figure that out at some point.

@chdot: Thanks by the way! My friend Jess had a letter back from a councillor (in response to her support of the POP campaign) in which he mentioned that he was going on the Breakfast Bike Ride!

breakfastbikeride is two characters too long for a twitter account name...

...and 'bfastbikeride' might encourage too much speed...

Also got an email from Chas Booth, which shows his keenness as I've still not got round to Writing To Them. I'm checking a few bits of route out in the mornings this week to try and get a route with a mix of right-way/wrong-way infrastructure and some good bits/bad bits and which doesn't just go through Ward 12.

Thanks wingpig! That's fantastic news, the councillors are publicising it for us :)

I'm not sure how much bad-infrastructure to include on the rides: It'll be good to show councillors, but I think it's more important we get as many people as possible to take part. ?

And if anyone wants to organise another route, that'd be good :D

Hello, I've just spent a few minutes spreading the word around facebook to see if we can find some volunteers for the other rides.Harrison Gardens ward 9 ride seems to be going well already :)

Will there be any posters or fliers to hand out? Anyone good at designing these things?

I've just emailed the councillors in my ward (16 - Liberton/Gilmerton), offering to accompany them in.

If there's the slightest whiff of interest, I'll plot a route and provide it to the pile/stack/site.

@Claggy Cog - I know this is going the wrong way for your commute, but if you wanted to help...

    I've had a response, so looks like there's now a Liberton/Gilmerton ride.

Suggestions for a route are most welcome!

Actually, I think we'll start at Liberton High School, up Gilmerton Road, Liberton Road, Craigmillar Park, all the way up Minto Street and South Bridge before turning up the Mile.

Should get cycle lanes (parked on), road narrowed by parking, and also plenty of bus lanes to show the good side, also the Mile for no motorised traffic (good) and cobbles (baaaadddddd, unless a wobbly voice amuses you!).

Fantastic Roibeard! I'll speak to Lionfish and get him to work out how to get the route etc on the website. Thank you for helping out!

Thanks Roibeard, I've added it to the site!

That's 5 councillors already taking part (9% of them!).

    Good work people :)
