johnny come lately on this one....... best wishes to all especially DaveS. A good outcome is to be expected when a Biker, a Nurse and Spytfyre are involved.

Hi everyone. Pub sounds like a great idea. Diggers is our local post-work pub anyway. Wasn't really feeling up to it yesterday, but happy to meet up with anyone who's interested next Friday. Be a good opportunity to buy Spytfyre and Bikernurse a pint in thanks.

@BikerNurse - sadly that wasn't me on the bike yesterday. The bike needs a few repairs over the weekend (as do I)! Unfortunately I had to take the car to work on Friday (I know, I know), but I reckon I'll be fighting fit and back on the bike on Monday.

Re videos: not sure I'm the best poster boy to highlight the plight of the urban cyclist - do people really care about beardy blokes on bikes? Hot girls in tight lycra - yes; middle aged blokes with beer bellies - not so much. However, I do normally wear a helmet-mounted camera. Typically I didn't have it attached on Thursday because of the rain, but I'm happy to share footage of the many, many close calls I encounter every week.

Yes please. I'm starting to think that a helmet-cam is required equipment these days, just in case of an incident, for insurance purposes, and to present the video-clip to the police as evidence of liability.

I must be doing something wrong. The last time I had anything like a close call was 2-3 years ago when someone passed me at the Govan police station roundabout then went off on the first exit when I was heading for the second.

Any video footage I recorded would be unremittingly dull.

    Perhaps local celebrity has advantages.

I don't bother with video anymore as I usually stick to the water of leith and avoid traffic - however that said at the Stockbridge end I often see idiots in cars and vans turning right across my right of way...

@Biker_nurse - is the Golden Rule good for you?
@DaveS - if you figure out a date between youself and the person above who really provided the medical assistance (I just tried to make you laugh) then let the rest of us know. A friday post work would be groovy just not this Friday as I'm away down to LegoLand

@DaveS shame about the bike but just shows that you DO represent the general biking consensus as all who passed me that morning fitted your description :)

@spytfyre I'm fairly new to Edinburgh drinking circle wise and have no idea where the Golden Rule is I'm afraid. Will google and see if that helps (maybe not - map reading! So many jokes I'm sure)

Drink sounds fab. Also cant do this Friday (although if Spytfyre is inviting us all to Lego land I'll happily phone in sick!) but can do the following Friday. I finish at 19:00-19:30 but happy to come along once I'm done :)
