OK folks - it's been a while since we floated the idea after DaveS had his off and we got him and biker_nurse join the forum. I've been too busy with work and the tigermoths (and Mrs Sptyfyre having a suspected case of Legionnaires yet to be proven) so I'll keep this short and sweet and try to check back often enough to see when people want to go.
I think the decision was the Golden Rule in Polwarth
I will open it to the vote buttons. Which Friday after work suits (thinking kicking off at 5 and people can arrive/leave later so there should always be a few of us there)

I can make most of these, but not 29th. No promises, but will try to stop in if a day is agreed upon by others. Such a nice little pub (and so conveniently located!)

I chose 22nd, although I can make most of them. Arbitrary powahr!
Posted 12 years ago # -
You can choose multiple dates.
Posted 12 years ago # -
I'm free most Fridays so i'll go with the prevailing opinion.
Posted 12 years ago # -
I voted 22nd pushing it into an early lead. Note crabbies now making non alcoholic ginger beer which is way better than their alcoholic stuff. Like Williams Bros alcoholic stuff. nectar

I can do most I think. Happy to fit around other people's calendar needs.

beer!

Yes you can vote multiple days

I've just given Mr fimm a pass to go and see Prometheus tomorrow, so I could sneak out for a bit... ;-)

The winner appears to be tomorrow...

If I go to the rule and none of you cats Are there, I will drink my pint on my own. I will go home without pub detour if raining I am a fair weather drinker

What sorta time. I may wear the paramo as my other "waterproof" it turns out is anything but
Posted 12 years ago # -
Given my proximity and that its on the way home I'll pop in even if its raining but probably only stay for one or two depending on what time folk are expecting to be there.

From the first octruply .303 armed post, it looks like turning up before 5 would be silly, but from then on you can expect company.
I finish at 5, so I'll be there from 5.15 or so.
Posted 12 years ago # -
realistically it will be 530 for me. But "things" seem to be happening every week at 430 on a Friday at work which has been keeping me late. Fingers crossed for none of that nonsense.
Posted 12 years ago # -
Kapps if you can leave at 4.25 you might avoid the stuff that happens at 4.30 ? This is the rationale for social work offices closing early on Fridays to avoid the stuff that happens just before the weekend

It's Friday afternoon here... can I have one now?
Posted 12 years ago # -
@stepdoh, you colonial types always looked likely to turn to the bevvy!
Posted 12 years ago # -
Hmm, I finish today at 4pm and I know of the golden rule from Diving but I only recall hoards of smokers at half time outside. Plus nowhere to park my bike from memory. Might have to give it a miss, sorry.
Posted 12 years ago # -
Golden rule's lovely on the inside DaveC. Good beer too.
I *might* make it along but as I was inveigled out to the pub last night by certain Glaswegian cyclists, I am not in terribly good books at home, so probably should give it a miss unless anyone's still there at 9ish...
Posted 12 years ago # -
Now that you mention it, DaveC, I don't think there's any sturdy railings, let alone actual stands, for a few streets in any direction, so I think I'll pop home and walk it. Only adds 5 minutes to my ETA anyway.
Posted 12 years ago # -
Definitely not ideal bike parking, but the usual number of street-lamps, posts etc. Railings up nr the roundabout, if anyone's really worried. or lots of sheffield stands at fountainpark. semi-covered too.
Posted 12 years ago # -
Given that I live within spitting distance of the GR I should I really pop along but I've got these damned things called children to look after tonight.....

"I've got these damned things called children to look after tonight....."
They can stand outside with a packet of crisps - like in the good ole days.
Posted 12 years ago # -
.... ahh the good ole days...
Posted 12 years ago # -
I'll also walk along should be there for half five, save any of the few spaces for those than need them.
Posted 12 years ago # -
I'll try to make it for 5 for one or two but have to get home sharpish afterwards
Also we've not heard from Dave_S or biker_nurse :(Posted 12 years ago # -
Ill be there, 5ish I 'spect.
Posted 12 years ago # -
oooh. looks like i'll get along too (if the rain eases up a wee bit)
