"look at the reflection of the traffic lights in the window"

Does that count as a spot?!!

Ugh, that photo with the parked vehicle gives me the heebie jeebies. I didn't notice it from our position. It's a good photo to show the dangerousness of that bit and parking on cycle lanes, however it's also a right turn-off for anyone considering cycling, with or without kids.

"I believe they were pretty much in the front of the group?"

They weren't actually part of the Sciennes ride at that point, they had started on their own, but it caught them at the next lights.

Earthowned - both us us disguised as joggers (should this have gone on reluctant runners thread?)

About 30 kids on bikes at Festival Square. Well they were off the bikes and climbing on those weird globe statues.

    Productive morning...

Did I pass @condor2378 at the entrance to Deanbank. A tagalong pilot with a well-wrapped stoker said 'hello' as I turned onto Canaan Lane, but I was already pondering how I was going to turn onto Morningside Road so was rudely uncommunicative.

On the towpath I passed @gembo embroiled in a mix of foot- and bike-bourne traffic. We exchanged greetings.

A short while later I bumped (not literally) into @HankChief.

I think it's because I was an hour later than usual, having being doing the school run.

@Greenroofer, yes, it was I. No offense taken, you were clearly deep in thought.

Arellcat, redly torpeding past a bundle of highly impressed kids as I wrangled them back to the main school.

!!!! Ooooh! It appears to be cloudy down in this part of town but I am going outside in hope anyway!

  11. Did you see them?

I should have gone back out at 1am, and kicking myself for not doing so. Took a tester snap from my garden, and even there, with the streetlights, the green was coming through. I really should have gone down to Porty.

The bottom pic (which was around 11pm) was one of four in a row during a brief spell when there were proper columns going up - you could see it moving with the naked eye, which given how close I was to Edinburgh just seemed remarkable.

Bit of a glow over the Botanics but hard to get a good view from my current location. Wish I'd gone back out too as I was up late pottering! That does sound like an excellent view from Edinburgh.

A small quadcopter on a makeshift launchpad looking like it was about to be flown by a couple of official looking types next to the Viewforth canal bridge this morning.

Just about every car with lights on - over an hour before lighting up time.

    Wasn't a particularly dull evening.

    QBiC, 'rush' hour.

Traffic started moving just before I took photo, cyclist had been 'stuck' behind the two vans.

Note quality re-statement of cycle logo.

Mrs Kim and friend on the NEPN on Saturday morning. (At least, I think that's who it was... definitely someone I recognised).

A man pushing a heavy-looking bouncy MTB up the slope from the Porty level access on the Restalrig path with a laden trailer containing a desktop computer and a folding chair and with what looked like a CB antenna mounted on his handlebars...

Now, I dont really care what people wear on bikes - each to their own and all that.

However, today I saw a real beauty.

A chap going eastbound on Broomhouse path this morning - he was a real advert for "cycle safety".

Hi Viz cover on his helmet,

Hi Viz shirt (covered, I think, by a gilet, so the only non-reflecto yellow bit on him was the gilet !

    Hi Viz leggings/warmers

lastly, a pair of Hi Viz booties.

Cant remember if he had hi viz gloves, I was too busy trying to stay on the bike while giggling away to myself.

  27. He wasn't riding a Brompton was he, Nelly? Often pass a chap who's an ad for Hi-Viz riding eastwards on the Broomhouse path around 6.30'ish, though have't seen him since the start of last week and I reckon he may be riding in later.

Post-teenage Mutant Ninja Cyclist on George Street.

That is, the guy on the MTB with the green waterproof, green helmet, green turtle-shell backpack and green TMHT musette bag over his shoulder.

I should've shouted something witty like "TURTLE POWER!" when I cycled past.
