Is there a didn't spot thread? I didn't spot a single cyclist between Edinburgh and Dunfermline this morning.

Been meaning to ask this for a while - noticed the 'Space for Cycling Edinburgh' account on Twitter https://twitter.com/s4cedinburgh - is it anyone on here?

MMW bike counter was under 200 at least one day last week. Cycling is I suppose a 'least worst option' for many to get into work and university but not integrated with family activities?

Spotted a cyclist belting down Johnston Terrace with no lights in dark clothing last night. Turned out he had stuff for Amy to take for Umlazi township project in SA. Other X,000 miles will use less green energy.

Gembo wished me a happy new year as we passed by one another in the January morning gloom on canal towpath earlier. I just about managed to reply with a hello.

@Colin and stoker on tandem crossing the electric bridge in M'burgh on Sunday while I was walking the dog.

Rather cool recumbent trike parked up in Conference Square.

Looked out the living room window this morning and spotted Mandopicker cycling past.

I did my first nighttime ride along the canal tonight on my big bike. Very serene experience interspersed with moments of panic as you hope oncoming cyclists both a) appreciate how wide/long I am and b) move wide enough that they don't hit me while I'm blinded by their lights.

Cycling across the viaduct wide studded tyres and a tagalong was 'interesting'.

Anyway, back on subject I think I spotted the single pedal light of Jdanielp near the railway bridge. I couldn't think of a suitable greeting (given we haven't met before) so kept quiet.

@HC perhaps, for benefit of the uninitiated, you should define 'big bike'.

Circe Helios Tandem + tagalong and 3 panniers.

Something like this, but with double panniers on the back and multiple lights on it...

Oh & I forgot to mention we managed to get a 'high 15' off @biketrain this morning - quite a challenge for him as our hands were at differing heights.

That photo doesn't do it justice: it needs to be seen fully crewed to truly appreciate it.

Not many have seen it fully crewed - we're up too early and hidden away on family route 9.

I've always wondered what we look like - next time you spot us on Pinkhill you'll have to take a photo for us.

@HankChief that seems quite plausible at around 19:15 but I don't remember spotting anybody else around the railway bridge and I would have thought that I would have noticed the length of a bike that big! Which way were you going?

No. It was earlier than that. Someone else must have a pedal light then...

Saw a guy on a kid's scooter on West Coates pavement last night. It had very bright front and rear lights, which was slightly weird. Maybe he goes on the NEPN.

@amir - good Velomobile spot. Geneva must have a few other unusual bikes then?

I spotted Mrs Roibeard and two members of family out on Argyle Place.

Thanks for the spot @gembo, hadn't seen the magazine before and it's quite fun. I think it would be better if they asked each household how many *working* bicycles they had.

As I was finishing my cake in a local cafe (you know, the one that I can easily get to from the Pinkhill off road cycle path and has a convenient place to park the bike...) I spotted SNP MSP candidate Toni Giugliano walking past.

Assuming he was heading to the top of Manse St / SJR (a.k.a. the most polluted street in Scotland), we went that way home and had a quick chat with him to confirm arrangements for our cycle tour.

Going uphill on the Eastern side of Queen's Drive a dude with his hands in his casual jacket pockets on a cheap full-suss MTB steaming past a guy in cycling kit with aero bars on his racer.

Also spotted: my first and hopefully last CCE dream. Had to get @SRD's hand-cranked tandem home up a steep winding street for some reason.....

IWRATS, interesting dream. The old Hand cranked tandem up the steep street. Sisyphean themes in dreams are a. Indicative of work pressures or b. Not indicative of anything

    @gembo

Good spot. Work is indeed Sisyphean at the moment, almost literally so. I think I might suggest having a large boulder brought into the office as an MI reporting device.

Why @SRD's bicycle though? I've never worked with @SRD, though I have worked for @SRD's employer.

Hand cranked tandem? Sure they exist - Velo Vision bound to have reviewed one...(!) Hase Pino with handcycle front end?

Spotted forumer in Argyle Bar watching Hearts game on Sky. BBC One Scotland (ta chdot)
Won't name as not sure if he was meant to be there.
Maybe that's too much info already (!)

@iwrats, you are maybe aware of srd's tandem? It is not hand cranked but it is srd's.
