I'm being spotted ridiculously frequently at the moment! That was indeed me.
Effort was just 'toil' really as I stubbornly refused to change down a couple of gears.
For what it's worth I'd seen the runner, and she looked rather focused and fast!
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

Judging by a photo you posted on Facebook that is because there are two identical WCs now.
When I said the bike looked like @WC's bike, I had no idea it actually was his bike. I had no idea that @WC was spottable so far West. I shall add him to my list of things I might see on the commute (along with the fabled kingfisher)
You mean the beige bike? Has been out stenhouse path or gyle recently I think
It's like the Sharks and the Jets. Someone from the East side is coming on to our West Side turf...
"Someone from the East side is coming on to our West Side turf..."
Thought the Edinburgh divide was N or S of Princes Street.
Spotted Dave going like the clappers at the bottom of the Lanark Road this morning.
Instography this morning. We shared a wave of acknowledgement.
Next time you see him tell him he's missed.
Good to see the spotted thread is alive and well. Has it really been 5 years?
I don't get in here often enough theses days.
Spotted Laidback Dave helping me load a couple of urban arrows into my van this week ;-)
@recombodna, has been a most popular thread since you started it. Several spots of mine are virtually daily, eg yesterday's high Five with jdanielp on towpath.
I spotted you on Facebook in the company of the drummer from geek maggot bingo
Spotted - gembo (aka the early-morning off-topic poster).
Ah Gembo yes I can sometimes be found on Facebook hanging around with musicians and drummers.....
@recombodna, aw c'mon, drummers are musicians too
Recombodna will be appearing with support at Robbie's Bar this Friday.
(In a strictly non removal mode of course. No tittering please!)
A woman on her bicycle with a young child on the front, valiantly made her way up Market Street to the Mound despite a William Tracey bin lorry sitting atop the 'cycle lane'
Chapeau Ma'am.
I spotted Big John on the towpath this morning and wished him a happy 60th birthday. He didn't mention his bus pass.
Did a quick(ish) ride to Cockenzie this morning, lots of people out on bikes. I came back into town via the Innocent Railway. Whilst stopped to munch several Jelly Babies I chatted with a Circe Helios rider whose CCE handle I probably learned at PY once but I'm afraid I couldn't remember it at all.
Hi Arellcat, that was me, enjoying a trip across town to my sister's allotment.
I spotted a hand operated recumbent on the way home via Carrington/Temple yesterday
Chap on unicycle and wielding an ice hockey stick in the grass market this morning
I was spotted by @Harts tonight.
Coming through Corstorphine I looked behind me before overtaking a parked car and saw a upright bike holding primary. I thought nothing of it until by the zoo I glanced behind only to still see him there. He shouted at me and I slowed up to have a chat. I was told off for not normalising cycling - which was fair but I was running late for the hustings.
Fair play to him for chasing me down on his basketted gazelle. I was on my pub bike but not hanging about.
I also spotted myself on SportRelief on Friday night finishing my London-Edinburgh charity ride. Happy days for a good cause.
@HankChief In what way were you not normalising cycling? Is this something I could be guilty of, unwittingly?
"I was on my pub bike"
That'll be one with at least 3 brackets for attaching trailers and kids's seats.
Definitely not 'normal'...
Woke up this morning feelibng very tired and wondering if I should take teh train. took teh bike anyway , as it was such a nice morning,
On Bug Alley, came across a gent I used to see on the Fife-bound trains when I bike-trained. Last time I'd seen him he'd had 1 hip replacement and was awaiting another. This morning had a chat to him - both ops worked well, he "feels like superman" and he was back out on his bike and enjoying a lovely morning.
We also chatted to a gent with two massive wolfhounds who often walks them on Bug Alley at commuter times. Turns out he's a regular cyclist and ultramarathon runner.
All in all avery pleasant and leisurely commute.
Hankchief - are you serious? Forum rules prevent writing my true opinion of that attitude.
@Min
Are you objecting to the ticking off or the autospot? Both are dubious.
Min: think HankChief and Hart's know each other quite well so suspect it was said in jest.
Chasing someone down and having a go for not "normalising" cycling? Too right I object.
I am not sure what an autospot is so it is possible I object to one of those too?
Edit Stickman - okay then, that's a relief.
Yellow tandem near Cannonmills. Seemingly having mechanical issues, though they were resolved quickly.
