Getting pretty sick of passive aggressive aggressive signs threatening death/theft of property/immolation of one's first born to vulnerable space users if we don't do exactly as they say. We're not hostages and at the very least the vast majority of the responsibilty to operate safely is on them (wherever it is)

Followed a chap (99.9% sure it was a chap, but it was dark) along the towpath this evening thinking (s)he must be a CCEr. My criteria were:
1) Thoughtful and relaxed control of speed: really slow on the tricky bits, careful on the less tricky bits and putting the power down on the bits with good sight lines (and giving the impression that there was considerable power in reserve)
2) 99% sure had dynamo lights - definitely a B&M Topline on the rear, and a very cut-off beam on the front that was cut off at exactly the same level as my B&M Cyo
3) Carradice or similar small saddle bag + one pannier
4) Sustrans reflective vest
5) A beautiful melodious bell used with discretion. I thought my ding dong bell was quite nice, but this was definitely nicer.
I never realised the Topline was that bright: the only one I've seen in action before is mine.
@greenroofer- did you enter an alternative reality and end up up following yourself?
@hankchief, could be Greenroofer is unable to answer as he is stuck inside a worm hole caused by misalignment of handle bar and helmet mirrors?
@HC - no definitely not me I was following: he had a nicer bell than me.
@gembo - I don't have a helmet mirror, for various reasons, one of which has a special thread of its own

Wasn't me. My bell is sonorous, not melodious.
@jules878 - I don't think the Christmas stuff will be blocking the racks as the back of the RSA - I will try and have a look tomorrow (check time, later today).
I did spot a Recumbent and my Genesis skilfully parked between 2 generators this afternoon. An option not open to the General Public.
New street now reopened. Bikes can go down and up. Cars can only go up. Funny wee mini-traffic island at the high street to try to stop the cars going down
I was spotted by ivangrozni this morning at Livingston North station as we both assisted a third cyclist who was having some trouble with her bike.

Well wrapped up woman in bobble hat and longish coat pushing a bike over the Slateford Aqueduct at 0745ish this morning, while singing quite loudly and reasonably tunefully in a language I didn't recognise but which sounded vaguely Russian.
It was an interesting mix of charming and weird.
And no, despite the language similarity, it wasn't the usual suspect for odd behaviour in that area.
Hmm, that made me remember that I overtook a singing female cyclist on the towpath at some point recently too, although I can't think of any further details beyond that.

I think I passed the person I spotted near a bridge so was wondering whether singing was a bell substitute in the same way that some others whistle or shout "ring, ring!"
This afternoon on the Edinburgh Park–Stenhouse bicycle expressway I spotted an enormous black Dutch-style bike with a great big black basket on the front. Pretty sure it was Claire at the controls.

Most excellent Surly Big Dummy cargo bike and its owner outside Tesco in Leith yesterday. I was on the Pashley Pronto and we exchanged cargo bike chat: a rare opportunity!
St Andrews day promotion in an undertakers at Jock's Lodge;
Cycling through Inverleith Park last night on the way to evening class, a super-reflective jacket passed perpendicular infront of my light some distance ahead. As I got closer I could see it was a long, tailored fit, Mac-style cycling jacket. As I got even closer I noted that the rider was on a fat bike. And as I passed and the coat was no longer lit up by the reflection of my headlight I noted that it had a striking black/white houndstooth pattern.
So. Lady on a fatbike in a reflective houndstooth cycling macket.
That post shows a distinct lack of situational awareness.
