    SEStran is now inviting applications for Sustainable and Active Travel Grants of between £500 and £25,000.

    The scheme, which follows the successful Travel Plan grants scheme for Local Authorities and Health Boards, is now open to all public, private and non-profit organisations operating within the South East of Scotland. Projects funded by the grants in the past have included:

    - Secure cycle parking and shower/changing facilities;
    - Establishing a Tripshare Group
    - Improving pedestrian access to a place of work;
    - Travel to work surveys to develop an existing Travel Plan;
    - Employee training in travel planning, and;
    - Other schemes that have encouraged active travel

    Funding of up to £25,000 can be applied for, subject to the applicants providing the equivalent amount in match funding. Applications will be treated on a case-by-case basis, but preference will be given to organisations which already have a travel plan in place, or where a detailed Travel Survey has been carried out.

    The application form and guidance information can be downloaded from the SEStran website: http://www.sestran.gov.uk/grant-applications/
