The Harbourmaster at North Berwick used to spray the dog poo spot yellow in an attempt to shame owners, last time I was there the problem appeared to have disappeared.
At Yellowcraigs beach a couple of years ago, we noticed that they placed little yellow flags on dog turds !!

Around ten years ago every significant turd on Haddon's Court, Hardwell Close and Howden Street was ringed with chalk. I started to suspect it was the perpetrator's owner because they were tagged so quickly.

Here's a comment from the article that sums up just how stupid some folk are!
Will they be spray painting all the litter that their beloved children drop in the playground and surrounding streets?

The woman with the two chihuahua on the canal towpath at Wester Hailes which were wearing garishly bright coats (I shouldn't really complain given my bright green Altura jacket) and walking next to one another in the middle of the towpath, hanging back a little behind their walker. Bell-ringing wasn't of interest to any of them although I eventually managed to talk one of the dogs into moving to the side so that I could pass. I suggested that a lead would be a good idea to the woman as I overtook them all.
Earlier, I slowed down behind another dog walker to let traffic pass in the other direction before overtaking at jogging speed. There was plenty of space to pass because the woman was well to the left and her dog, which was on a lead, was right next to her, but she still felt the need to have a go at me for not having rung my bell. I replied that I could have done but that I hadn't felt the need to due to having slowed down.

Dog fouling continues to be an issue with only 46 per cent of people satisfied.

46% of people are satisfied with dog fouling?

On the top end of Bruntsfield Links yesterday afternoon a young woman was exercising her dog (large black lab) off-lead inside the fenced-off children's area.
This is the area where the local nurseries bring children to have picnics and let them toddle and crawl on the grass outside.
When challenged, the woman simply said, "Oh, I let him run around here off the lead because it's fenced in!"
Yeah.
Well the fence is there to keep dogs out, not the other way round...

"The lowest satisfaction ratings [on the council’s management of dog fouling] were in Sighthill/Gorgie (29 per cent), Leith Walk and Meadows/Morningside (both 34 per cent)."
I'm not surprised. Our pavements (in Gorgie) are often fouled. And what idiot lets their dog foul the area in front of someone else's front door?Posted 9 years ago # -

The group will launch its first spring clean of the year tomorrow from its Bothy HQ in Gilmerton Dykes Street at 10am, with volunteers focusing on the east end of the park, removing litter and putting down chalk signs to warn people to clean up after their dogs.

Watch out for a guy on the WoL on a bike in a hoodie with a dark grey/brown whippetty thing, heading west around Warriston. The dog stuck its nose almost in my face as I was chalking a PoP sign by the Stedfastgate junction after carting thrice my weight in slabs and decking to my allotment. I reacted accordingly, drawing sharply back and going "Yrch. Get out of my face, dog." It's owner then started going very slowly and peering round at me in what he thought was a threatening manner. Fortunately my getaway vehicle was just turning around in Connaught Place.

Lady Susan's Walk in Craigmillar Castle Park...just acquired a set of canine claw scratches down my left hip. Passed a guy with a nice tan and white hound, which was on a lead and he made it sit as I approached so all good but as I arrived it lunged at me. I think I'd have been ripped a new one if the owner hadn't yanked it back. No apology, just a sullen look.

I were right - I would be mortified if my dog done something like that. I walk up Corstorphine Hill and there's not many cyclists there but if I see one or a runner I usually just get a hold of him. My dog is very friendly but I wouldn't want either the other person or him being hurt because of some crazy puppy behaviour.

Thanks - I'm sure the dog was just frightened I was going to attack his human. The human in question was at fault. No harm has been done - it wasn't even frightening, though there was no way I was engaging with the gentleman afterwards.

Yowzers. I've had my one lunge at ninja joggers passing us with little regard for personal space but even when it's totally unexpected he doesn't actually get close enough to do anything.
If the guy had his dog sit beforehand then he should must been aware it was a possibility, and there's no excuse for it to have so much of its lead that it can reach a hooman.

Riding past Crookston I heard a woman shouting Gibley! Gibley! Then a man's voice belowing the same name in full "Jesus Christ Fenton" mode. Gibley turned out to be a Weimeraner/Pinscher type puppy wanting to play. I stopped and eventually persuaded the dog to run back towards the bellowing couple. But to judge by the shouting he just ran off past them down towards the A7 or over the hills towards Stow, or Heriot.

On the Roseburn path yesterday, woman with her back to me in the middle of the path ahead of me and an unleashed dog running about her feet. I slow, ring my bell, move as far to the left as I can. Just as I'm about to pass, the woman kicks a twig into my path and the dog makes a lunge for it. I somehow manage to go from 8 to 0 mph in about 30cm to avoid hitting the dog. After a few deep breaths I politely suggest that the owner considers putting the dog on a lead. Her response: "Naw, there's too many of yous".
I'm baffled.Posted 9 years ago # -
"I'm baffled."
Maybe she meant "there are too many of youse".

Interesting that someone would be willing to put their dog into harm's way to make a point. I'd suggest that person shouldn't own a dog.

I’M in Berlin this week and there’s an awful lot to like about it. The hotels are cheaper than anywhere else in Europe, the natives are friendly, but best of all there is no litter or dog mess.

The 47 year-old was walking by Keddie Gardens, off South Fort Street, around 7.30am when his pet was suddenly attacked by another dog.

I'm surprised the headline didn't include 'cyclist' and that the article didn't describe a 'cyclist' being seen somewhere in the vicinity.
What's wrong with the EEN. Have they forgotten about CLICKBAIT?

"I’M in Berlin this week and there’s an awful lot to like about it..........no litter or dog mess"
Quite.
I skated on a dogshit last night in Leith and blinking disgusting it was too. DNA testing sounds good, although as is the way of these things the bampot element who let their dog loose to foul the street would probably ignore it in this country.
There have been a few dog eggs in my street over the last couple of months - but I have never caught the culprits - grrrrrr

The schoolchild-carer-with-small-grey-dog who join the NEPN around Pilton were bring particularly unaware as their dog was being particularly obstructive today.
An outdoorwear-wearing dogwalker appeared to be trying to make comedy bell noises at me around the Coates bridge as I waited patiently well behind a pedestrian for the incoming cyclist to pass.
