Long enough for ‘everyone’ to have caught up with the idea and consequences of Access legislation.

@acsimpson - this dog was brown and scruffy, so not the same one. I'm not bothered by yapping dogs, I have owned many dogs myself, and I just assumed this one was excitedly coming to say hello. I shall be more wary next time...
@unhurt - I wasn't being blocked and it was more just this general uneasy feeling as there was no sympathy forthcoming and it all just seemed a little odd and might not stay calm... I suspect my anger was maybe over-exaggerating the reality. If only I had a fortnite-like replay mode so I could see what actually happened! I've certainly got a pic of the bite, it was worse than I had been expecting as you can clearly make out the entire dog's mouthprint ;)

Persistent rattling cough from one of the bunch of five or six dog-people gathered closely together on the cricket bit of Leith Links this afternoon whilst their dogs bothered people on the path.
