If anyone feels like attempting to draw the attention of the EEN commenters to facts then the use of multiple motors may hlp explain the relative quietness of an electric tram (even a relatively heavy one) compared to an electric locomotive (which is capable of pulling much more much faster).

I made a rather flippant comment about an ASL in the taxi rank at Haymarket yesterday. I had a proper look at it on the way home, and it is rather more interesting than first appeared.
You enter it on the right hand side... imagine if you are cycling down Morrison St; once you pass Ryrie's Bar you are cycling parallel to the tracks. You then have a cycle lane to your left, which leads you to the left of a little island. You now have the taxi rank to your left, and you get to an ASL. What will be interesting is to see what the traffic light phases to get out again will be.
I did take a photo, but didn't have time to upload it anywhere useful (I used to be able to upload to Flickr straight from my phone but for some reason that isn't working for me at the moment).

Every Flickr a/c has (had?) a unique email for uploading/posting photos.
(I can't find the page with that info so maybe it's not offered anymore! (Mine still works.)

I can't find the page with that info on my phone, but I saw it the other day on a proper computer. Ah: http://m.flickr.com/#/upload or http://www.flickr.com/account/uploadbyemail shows it. Assume it requires images to be sent from the email address you're registered with.

Thanks @chdot, @winpig. I suspect I've got logged out of Flickr in some way. I'll give it another go when I'm at home (and on our wireless connection). There is an alternative, but it is a bit more long-winded.

If you're using the Flickr app, they have recently updated it to reflect the "new" layout, as it was until not long ago still running in "classic" or "proper" mode.

I saw one move today!
About 2mph just east of Edinburgh Park station. Was going back and forth, accompanied by c. 50 bods in orange fluoro who kept poking and prodding and measuring things every time it stopped.
A couple of interested members of public / people with cameras.
Woman with guide dog. Guide dog didn's eeem bothered.

Tram route cracks before launch ‘show rushed job’
EXPERTS have warned that cracked concrete discovered on the route of Edinburgh’s tram line just hours after testing began could become a serious maintenance problem.The cracking was found by the Evening News in concrete under an elevated section of track close to the Edinburgh Park tram stop.
The fault was discovered as contractors were walking alongside one of the trams, which was making its maiden journey from the Gogar depot to Edinburgh Park on Tuesday in a new phase of the testing programme.

Where are these tram byelaws? Are we allowed to cycle along the tramroute in the city centre? like along York Pl or St Andrew Sq or between Haymarket station and the Turn to Haymarket yards?
