    Sexy trams

It shows that not only do trams makes your morning commute “sexier”, they also make the area you live in sexier. And many of us will want a piece of that.

Not sure I want a "sexy" commute to work, TBH. And I'm not entirely sure what a "sexy" area to live in would look like...

A city council spokesman said it was an “unfortunate error” but insisted there could be some hidden benefits.

“The ticket machines work perfectly well and have been thoroughly tested. The fact that they only accept euros is a minor hiccup and one which we can work with as this award-winning project progresses.

That had me going until the change bureau, the council would never go to that much effort. They'd make you buy "tokens" in advance to use in their advance purchase ticket machines.

I thought the BBC story that people should eat 7 a day (instead of 5) must be an April Fool.

    (Well I was half asleep).

The EN story is 'easy' because the tram has long passed the 'couldn't make it up' stage!

They did have a generic shopkeeper giving a rant but should have gone for the poster man at Haymarket (soon to be in minority of one in his hatred of trams). Is that same as t-shirt guy?

Two fruit, five veg. The 5 a day thing was always known to not be enough.

Swedes have vegetables and fruit with every meal (well they would).

"The 5 a day thing was always known to not be enough"

Even the 5 a day hasn't really been 'accepted' as most people don't have much idea of what a portion is.

Does a glass of alcoholic grape juice and a packet of sliced potatoes count as two?

Yup. Deep fried potatoes also count.

Baked beans. At least that's what the manufacturers claim.

Yeah but how many count as a portion?

How much tomato ketchup do you need to make a portion?

I read many years ago in a book on the processed food industry that back in the Regan days the US reclassified tomato ketchup to being a fruit/vegetable in order to hit targets for school meals contributing to 5 a day.

Apparently they are trying to get pizza turned into a vegetable for the same reason.

Not too much but enough to make you feel like you've eaten. SI unit: "Just Enough"

    Swedes are vegetables.

The doc who gave me my last health assessment was refreshingly honest about the 5-a-day thing. He said it's all just based on statistical analysis indicating that the more fruit and veg you eat, the healthier your outcomes. Five just seemed like a reasonable number to hang it on.

The problem then becomes that people become fixated on the number and fail to apply intelligence to it. They also fail to think holistically and simply put what they eat into a different mental box to what they drink, their lifestyles, etc.

Given that my ice box doesn't really work properly, the 500g bag of frozen peas last night had to be eaten in one sitting.

Luckily I like peas, but still it was only 1 of my many a day. Apparently.

Frozen peas make good pea soup, fry up an onion, an some veg stock, hand blend, swirl on some cream and pesto bit of lime. That is at least four a day

Enjoy, go light on the lime,i only really chucked that in To bump up the five a day but does help if the onions have stuck a wee bit to the pan.

I think might be my favourite soup and if you have the blender it is easy.

Maybe bit of parsley as garnish and or ingredient.

    Serve with chunky wholemeal bread.

Made the pea/pesto/lime soup last night. Delicious and Madame IWRATS has demanded its inclusion in the soup pantheon.

Tablespoon of pesto, one and a half limes, wholee bag of peas, litre of stock. Lip smacking verdant supper.
