    Ok, thanks!

I'll have to plan the best way of walking it back that gives opportunities for wee rides...the canal will be involved somewhere.

My wife will be picking up her first ever "proper" new bike on Saturday (she's very excited about it) but she isn't confident enough to ride it home through traffic.

Can you suggest a low traffic route home? Perhaps passing some nice cafes?

We'll be going from BikeTrax back to Corstorphine. Time/distance walking isn't a problem, so we'll probably go along the canal and then cut over to get through Roseburn Park then up to the Balgreen path (which is why the tram would have been ideal!). Although now you mention it, a wee tea stop at Zazou would fit in perfectly.......

If anyone sees an extremely excited woman on a pretty green bike next Saturday then you'll know who it is!

Edinburgh trams: Councillor supports network extension

The BBC article seemed to miss that Frank Ross was talking about an extension to the south of the city.

    http://www.scotsman.com/news/transport/extending-edinburgh-tram-network-a-no-brainer-1-3422994

"Frank Ross, convener of the economy committee, gave one of the strongest hints yet yesterday that the city council was looking at a route to serve the south side of the city which is currently excluded from the £776 million project."

    However, another councillor says No:

Hallelujah. I didn't think they'd contemplate the southern route for decades. Great news. I hope it happens sooner rather than later.

MSPs are not known as "Rt Hon". Those bells and whistles are reserved for Westminster.

Hey folks! Don't the trams start taking passengers tomorrow?

The tram I passed at Haymarket this morning had quite a lot of people on it, including kids. Might have been the winners of the family competition that SRD linked to above. The kids looked excited at any rate.

We stood watching trams passing at Hermiston Gait at the stop on Sunday. Doors were opening and closing as normal. Had to stop mine two from trying to hop on!

Lots of ppl exiting a tram, with heads of sheds from police etc.. at St Andrew Sq right now. They even had one of those Dance Flash Mobs which turned up out of the crowd at one point.

Can I vote please for a tram route past ERI onwards to Danderhall, and terminating at Shawfair Metropolis or Sherriffhall Park & Fart? (Fart & Ride?)

"MSPs are not known as "Rt Hon". Those bells and whistles are reserved for Westminster."

Rt Hon denotes a member of the Privy Council, who don't have to be peers or members of parliament.

At present there are three serving MSPs who are Privy Councillors - Alex Fergusson and Tricia Marwick (for being presiding officers), and Alex Salmond.

Jack McConnell and Henry McLeish were both appointed to the Privy Council on becoming First Minister - it's not a rule, but it's now a constitutional convention. It also applies to the First Ministers of Wales and Northern Ireland.

Looks like RBS has been getting ready for the trams...

Nothing on the bridge itself. I assume it is too narrow for a dividing line.

We'll see what it like sharing the space with the tram passengers next week...

Did wake in middle of night. Partner left her electric blanket on (has that cold that is going round) but was too early to get up for tram.

"was too early to get up for tram"

You could have walked to York Place to get the first one back.

Never heard of jenny hjul, but I bet she writes comments for the EEN. And if she thinks 5.30 is before 'dawn'' she must live in a cave somewhere. What a whinger!
