Burns appears to be embracing the new Incredinburgh slogan, surprising since he appeared to be slating it last week #edincouncil"

Either @AndrewDBurns genuinely doesn't have a clue about viral marketing campaigns like #Incredinburgh - or he knows fine well about them."

This campaign has had some "viral" (on a parochial scale) success on Twitter. And largely for all the wronginburgh reasons, with people mocking it.
What I fail to understand is who this campaign is actually aimed at. Seems it's had most notice to locals. Why would you waste money advertising your own city to the people who're oblidged to live in it and use it's facilities anyway?!

All publicity is good publicity...
Actually, I'm going to go out of step here. If this is marketed outside the UK then it's a simple, single word, play-on-words that works outside English. A phrase or the like often doesn't work in the same way. It does indeed sound clunky in English, but the way that foreign places use English words means that it doesn't sound the same at all.
For instance, French people will say, in perfect seriousness, in all ages, and without sounding like they're desperately tryign to be hip, that something is 'mega-cool'. I remember having a drink with a guy, mid-20s, rolling his own cigarettes, serious deep-and-thoughtful type, who used that very phrase. Which to me sounded desperately Eurovision.

So long as your English is good enough to figure out what is meant by "Incredinburgh".
I think I'll go and visit Incroyaris next year, it sounds great.

But that's my point. I mean firstly foreigners tend to be much much better at English than we are at other languages; but secondly, because British, and especially US, culture is so universal then words like 'incredible' will even be known by those who don't speak English (unlike 'incroyable' or the German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch equivalents).
All of these other countries even have billboards, advertising home products, in English. It's pervasive. The closest we've ever come here is 'Le Piat D'or' or 'Vorsprung Durch Technik'. Hell, even in Kosovo most of the billboards had English words (and products had Englisg names such as the delightful 'Go Gay' hairspray).

Could be worse, it could be 'Glasgow's Miles Better'.
What a smug, self-satidied, parochial and boastful slogan that was!
Miles better than.....?

The best line to include the city's name is the one used to get dog owners to clean up.
'Don't make it Edinbur..urghh!'
Stenciilled on pavements with crouching dog graphic. All in the best possible taste!
cc = Go to Glasgow instedinburgh - good one :-)

Surely the response to 'Glasgow's Miles Better' was always 'Edinburgh: slightly superior'

I sometimes visit Edinburgh for a holiday, it is a great place. Calton Hill, Edinburgh's Disgrace, Arthur's Seat, Salisbury Crags, Duddingston Loch, even walking round the old town, parliament, Jacob's Ladder, Royal Terrace, New Town (tho funded by slavery).

Edinburgh's Disgrace
I read about that. They wanted to show off something "iconic" to the world but they mismanaged the project, ran out of money and only built half of it.
Due to finish in 2014 they claim.

crowriver "'Glasgow's Miles Better'" was also meant to be read as "Glasgow Smiles Better". Still terrible though.

Edinburgh's Disgrace
Eh? Do you mean Scotland's Shame?

@Tom, oh I know. Hence Mr. Happy as the 'o' in Glasgow.
Cheesy as heck.
