I have just closed two threads that were discussing helmets (and kittens etc. in the way only this forum can).
Both were better natured than the one the day before, but still show that some people hold very opposing views. Interestingly there was some suggestion that such debates could/had change(d) minds.
It was also the case that a concensus was emerging around the 'fact' there was insufficient evidence to support arguments about the effects on the number of people cycling (and how often they did) due to a) legislation (or not) and the promotion of 'safety gear' - particulary to children by cycling organisations - especially government funded ones.
These are all legitimate concerns and will no doubt be highlighted (dare I say inflamed?) by the CAPS report.
I'm sure there will be many other things that will need to be discussed too.
There was a suggestion yesterday that one or more people had 'given up' on this forum because of the 'fighting'.
I believe this forum is valuable - to different people in different ways. I don't want it to be bland or have any more rules (I may have to change "no swearing" to no swear words).
Even less do I want to close topics. All I ask is 'think before you post' - and especially - think before you react to another post.
