Ok so I'm now the proud owner of a bakfiets that needs a little TLC but was bought at the right price........ Always wanted one since I first saw them in Holland all those years ago...... N+1 continues..... Pics to follow.

Question is, is the former owner going to go for a Helios to replace it ornot?

SRD I dunno he didn't say.... Bruce Sorry but it's got a 40kg max load.... but I'm sure we can "test" it .... it does need a bit of welding on the box frame as it's been left outside in scotland for the last 3 winters but I does love a wee project that involves my trusty old mig....

"...it's been left outside in scotland for the last 3 winters..."

Is it an ex-shop-advertising prop or something? Didn't Coffee Angel on Brandon Terrace formerly have one parked outside it?

Nope. Family moved from Holland and didn't use it much after they moved.

Question actually is, WHERE ARE THE PHOTOS?!?!

(and is it the bakfiets I once photographed parked up on Melville Street?

There speaks someone whose 'normal' bike is almost as heavy as a bakfiets (just joking!!)

Amusingly, the Raleigh Superbe and Pashley Roadster Sovereign both tip the scales at 24kg, same as the Bullitt.

Just took it out for a test run to see what it's like on the edinburgh hills... it rides great. I Think I may have found my ideal winter training bike.... Thinking about fabricating some bullbars for the front...... now to strip it down and sort out the rust

I can confirm that three eight-year olds can fit in an ICE trike box, have it tipped upright and then back down about a bajillionty times before it breaks.

In related news: LaidBack? Can I take another ICE trike box off your hands? The kids are asking.

My box is rotten so I have dismantlementized it in order to replace it and get rid of all the rust and paint it.

Also needs new front tyres and I thought while I'm at it I should service the roller brakes. Quick google on how to service sturmey archer roller brakes and I found a very good article.. http://mccraw.co.uk/sturmey-archer-drum-brake-routine-service/

I like this project. At least the tricky bits like the bench still seem to be fine. Some marine ply cut to size, brass screws, boat varnish, and you're good to go...

    Flames? Go faster stripes surely?
