    STV says:

Members of the public are to be asked what they think about paying for parking in the capital on a Sunday and reducing the speed limit.

The Local Transport Strategy for Edinburgh is up for renewal and councillors are proposing a number of changes.

On Tuesday, they agreed to put the proposals out for consultation from members of the public and "key stakeholders".

If approved, motorists would have to pay for parking on a Sunday in the city centre. It could either be four central zones or a larger area including Newington, Bruntsfield and Stockbridge.

The money from the parking charges would be put towards improving Sunday bus services.

Other measures would also see 20mph zones being extended to "all residential streets, shopping areas, including the city centre, and to main roads with high pedestrian activity".

Councillors are also suggesting extending 30mph zones to any road with houses, shops or businesses, except dual carriageways.

Cllr Lesley Hinds said: "This is a great opportunity to shape the future direction of transport in Edinburgh, and we’re keen to hear the views of as many members of the public and interest groups as possible."
