A generous colleague has brought some of these in today. Now I'm in a quandary. Should I eat a bit, for the experience? Or should I remain pure and unsullied (yeah right)?

On the bright side she rather resourcefully bought them by getting off the train, nipping round the corner to make the purchase, then nipping back round the corner and straight onto the next train to continue her journey.

I had the same quandary yesterday when a visitor brought some in. I decided just to sell out and eat one. It was quite nice but I am relieved to say I am not experiencing any shakes, sweats or cravings so I think I have come out of it unscathed.

They're "just" donuts. Have tasted better and have tasted worse. So long as they've already been bought and paid for I'm sure you can eat with a clear conscience as your abstinence isn't going to stop KK getting their sugartax.

If anyone is interested in tasting them I'm pretty sure they are just the same as the ones that Tesco sell. Look for the frosted ones, not the sugar-covered.

I'm now tubbier but otherwise none the worse for the experience. Which incidentally was a little surreal as it reminded me strongly of the coffee breaks at the police station in Twin Peaks.

Munch-time conversation touched on the best doughnuts ever!!! which apparently come from Fisher & Donaldson in Fife.

cc The best anything comes from Fisher and Donaldson in St Andrews. The coffee towers are my favourite (even if they are copied from Parisian Religeuses).

Well you have to try them once at least I reckon!

People were somewhat scared of them here and speculated nervously on what was in them, particularly the spectacularly radioactive glittery pink one. They still didn't last long!

And a couple of the usual anti-cyclist suspects even manage to get digs in. There are times when I think people should be made more legally acountable for what they say online - even joking that you would drive dangerously and risk hitting a cyclist is irresponsible. Say such things once and it can be a misjudged attempt at humour, say them repeatedly and you demonstrate you have a dangerous attitude problem.

Photo caption: "Hungry customers have flocked..." They don't look like they're starving to me. If anything the staff look a bit undernourished.

I was down at Waverley the other day, and while my tickets were being printed the teller started a bit of banter with her colleague about nicking her doughnut. I then heard the KK brand mentioned. I quipped: "What, you go all the way out there just for doughnuts?" and the reply came that it was the manager that bought them for all the staff as a treat. Oh and the colleague chipped in that they were much nicer than the "other ones".

I smiled on the outside, but inside I was marvelling at the insane grip such "food" has on ordinary folk.

I used to love a jammdoughnut from Greggs as a youth, very cheap also had to watch liquid spillage. Then dunkin donuts came to Glasgow, city centre and hyndland. Same craze as KK but maybe twenty odd years ago. But. Never got it then and I don't get it now but I suppose I am not normal

For me it was a Greggs fudge donut.

But I would never travel across Edinburgh just to get one, it was only ever an occasional, opportunistic treat while out at the shops or getting some other baked wares.

    Uh-oh.

I'm not sure the lady in the photo is the best advocate for these products.

Possibly not the go-to news source, but this just gets better and better.

    "
Dunkin' Donuts is to make a second attempt to crack the UK market - 20 years after shutting down its business in the country.

The American firm - with a British boss at the helm - has signed franchise agreements to open 50 restaurants in London over the next five years, creating 500 jobs. Nigel Travis said he was in "advanced talks" with other partners to open a further 150 around the rest of the country.

Tim Hortons. Amazing. Whenever the girlfriend flies over I have her smuggle some Timbits over and whatever I fancy from the main menu. And Smootims are pretty special too. And it is all so cheap! <3

I have fond memories of Dunkin Donuts from the days when it was the only place in Pueblo Colorado where you could buy a coffee that wasn't just brown coloured hot water. The donuts were a bonus. But I do like all doughnuts - Krispy Kreme, Dunkin Donuts, proper deep fried jam ones, anything - it's lucky I cycle. Must try Tim Horton's now

One year ago the first customer won a year's free supply of donuts. These will be difficult times for him.

What is astounding is the amount of KFC and Krispy Kreme packaging now littering a 2 mile radius.

The broomhouse path verges are a disgrace. Suspect the trams contractors think "it will be councils job shortly"

I just wonder at the people who drop this stuff.

Its not like you are ever more than 100 yards from a bin !

It's the broomhouse verges and the underpass by the station that are particularly grim.

I can't get my head around the folk who go to the drive through, buy the junk and then sit in the car in the car park (yards away from a bin), eat the junk and then drop the rubbish out the window! I see it all the time when I drive PAST a local McDonalds.

Isn't drive through fast food just the best. I mean, they save you burning calories walking from your car seat, to the counter, and back again.

    Pure genius!
