    @Gembo- lovely part of the world for a holiday. Beaches, castles, pretty villages/towns and some hills. Best of all no one knows about it so it is fairly quiet.

    I'd follow fimm's return route for the first part but I'd go through Chirnside i/o Duns to pick up the back road to Norham and then onto the Merse and Moors route as amir suggests.

    @hankchief, good beach in bamburgh for building a damn. The regulars have all sorts of spades and the like.

    Spent many hols there when sprogs were wee. Lindisfarne interesting. Farne islands too. And one international standard crazy golf course in seahouses

    Did cycle Newcastle to Berwick on the Sustrans route, would not recommend to Arobcomp (no bus shelters)

    Yes, I was going to say, that's at Doddington Farm. They also sell cheese though that's not so tempting.
