I find it faintly amusing that the photograph is of Cruise Loch Ness' cabin RIB and not the one that has been actually chartered for the route.

Its the standard Redbay RIB, built in Antrim, with several operated by Kintyre Express (Islay/Argyll-Antrim ferry) plus one doing Jura. !2 pax enclosed cabin 15m?
12 pax with on demand shuttle & top speed 40kts should easily carry the number who'd normally clog up deck space with cars.
Loading/turn rounds will be much fasterCould run on from Oban to Mull (well south of Craignure) with 15 min crossing time?

The interesting part of this story is - who set Lorna Slater up?
A Sun journalist doesn't just happen to be at the harbour in Arisaig first thing in the morning. They must have been tipped off by someone who knew exactly how she was travelling to Rum and when. That can't be many people - certainly not many people with an interest in embarrassing her and the Greens.
My gut feeling (based on no hard evidence) would be a cheeky SNP special adviser looking to take some of the heat of their party. It wouldn't take much encouragement - the tabloids clearly have Lorna Slater in their sights.

Given that the STV story and the one on the BBC were both published that very morning, and both are replete with "A Scottish Government spokesperson said", I wonder who knew in advance? Even in journalism there are rules, and normally a journalist will send a warning shot to a press office who can then scramble to write something (invariably in defence).
Asked to reveal the costs, the Scottish Government would not provide an immediate figure.
Nice try, journalist. You no doubt know already that those figures are routinely published in arrears.

All being well after five years of delays and setbacks, the Glen Sannox ferry will finally join CalMac’s fleet and become just another of the west coast operator’s black and red liveried ferries, its infamous past fading from popular memory. Everything appeared to be going in the right direction when I visited the ship last week and it was perhaps more complete inside than I’d been expecting.
