Hello? Anyone still here? No gembo-isms? Some sort of secret pact to see how long we can hold out before someone posts? Bicycle apocalypse? Unusual yellow orb? All drivers have had a revelation and are now insanely well behaved?

Does seem unusually quiet today. I'm a bit concerned that a growing censoriousness seems to be driving some long standing posters away.

As I have opined many times the Scottish voter does so en bloc. So Churchill could be an MP for Dundee as Scotland voted for the conservative and unionists. Apart from the non-prods where there was an element of diversity. Then we switched to my beloved Labour Party. Did you know the old Castlbrae High School was opened in 1976 by James Callaghan? Prime Minister. Hopefully wee Nicky will be telt this and open the new, rather sombre anti climb building in Feb 2022? Now Scotland votes SNP regardlesss.

This wee forum is a microcosm of Scottish society.

Our frailties are revealed during Flouncing. A flouncing is when a member leaves. Wilmington’s Cow would do so when our hatred of cars got too much for him. He loves a wee mini, so do I as it would fit through The Crusher and be allowed into Gembo’s Edinburgh. See also Baby Austin’s and Cinquecentos.

We are predominantly male, middle class, environment conscious and male. Though of course we have some variety. We can become obsessed with single issues. We go in for over detailed analysis. We issue sublime corrections to each other that are actually anticipated. I admit to deliberately posting inaccurate information just to be corrected. For all our faults we survived three helmet wars though we are not so good at Queer Theory. Who is? Anyway a dozen years of this coming up

    chapeau

Happy to oblige - Churchill was, of course, a Liberal when elected in Dundee.

Did not know about Shackleton or Edwin Scymgeour of the Scottish Prohibition Party

Keir Hardie flirted with Gladstone briefly before he went ILP

    iPad not the issue.

Photos have to be hosted somewhere - eg Flickr.

Images should be about 500 pixels wide.

    No

Partly ‘primitive software’, party to keep website hosting requirements low.

If you’re not wanting to post many photos, Flickr worth considering -

Beginning January 8, 2019, Free accounts will be limited to 1,000 photos and videos. If you need unlimited storage, you’ll need to upgrade to Flickr Pro.

Sorry about the extended site outage, there was an expected outage overnight, but everything should have been back up by 7am this morning.

Let me know if you see any problems with the site.

Could we get an SSL Certificate for this site? It is really not a good idea to run a web forum without one.

@Kim - I did try and setup the site with a certificate. But the now very old software keeps redirecting back to the non secure version.

Medium to Short term - I do want to look a migrating to something more modern. We're running running on an unsupported version of php as well.

    Wot ChatGPT ‘thinks’!

Not sure it captures the unique essence of CCE…

The purpose of CityCyclingEdinburgh.info, based on the information available up until my knowledge cutoff in September 2021, is to provide a comprehensive resource for cycling in the city of Edinburgh, Scotland. It serves as an online platform that offers a wealth of information, tips, and resources to encourage and support cycling as a mode of transportation in the city.

CityCyclingEdinburgh.info likely provides various features and services that cater to cyclists, including:

Cycling Routes: The website likely offers detailed information on cycling routes in and around Edinburgh, including maps, distance, elevation, and difficulty levels. It may suggest alternative routes to avoid busy roads or provide scenic options.

Safety and Regulations: CityCyclingEdinburgh.info probably provides guidance on cycling safety, traffic rules and regulations, and tips for navigating the city's streets. This information can help cyclists understand their rights and responsibilities while riding.

News and Updates: The website may include news articles, blog posts, or a forum to keep cyclists informed about the latest developments related to cycling infrastructure, events, advocacy, and initiatives in Edinburgh.

Cycling Resources: CityCyclingEdinburgh.info might offer resources such as cycling gear and equipment reviews, maintenance tips, guides on choosing the right bicycle, and recommendations for local cycling shops.

Community Engagement: The platform may have a community section where cyclists can interact with each other, share experiences, ask questions, and participate in discussions related to cycling in Edinburgh.

It's important to note that the information provided here is based on general knowledge about cycling-related websites and the likely purpose of such platforms. Since I do not have access to real-time data or updates beyond September 2021, there may have been changes or additional features added to CityCyclingEdinburgh.info since then.
