Rode up to the house to try the direct new commute (no faffing around on WoL or canal).

17 seconds stationary between Currie and the shore, including turning my GPS on and off. Will it ever happen again?

Traffic was OK, in the sense of individual drivers not getting in the way, but my it gets heavy once you pass the Corn Exchange doesn't it? Nobody respecting the cycle lane either, so I was left to ride up the white line with the motorcyclists...

I have a very easy commute - 1 t-junction, Roseburn Path, two sets of traffic lights with Toucan crossings. I still like to play the non-stop game (I am not a track-stander so it can also be the not-touching-the-ground game).

Most days, I can manage a no touching-the-ground commute (from Currie to Broomhouse). I have several t-junctions en route but these are usually quiet enough that, even if there is traffic, I only have to slow until it's passed rather than stop. There's three sets of lights and a roundabout but it's possible to by-pass all of these in one go by a slight diversion along the canal.

From the house to the office only involves two light controlled junctions on the WoL route (at either end of ardmillan terrace), but after today I can see why people are inclined to main-line it down to the Corn Exchange (average 30mph) rather than wallow in the mud...

I bet you couldn't average 20.4mph on that journey if you had been driving

Did you try going "home" again at the end of the day? I'd be interested to see how long that would take you, with the elevation gain and headwind.

Not yesterday. I have done it once by the road and it took just over 36 min but that was without a fierce headwind.

Also on the white bike, whereas yesterday I was on the blue one.
