  1. Confess to your most recent purchases here!

Well, my new Kaff wheels should be ready for me to collect (at the weekend hopefully), so gone into overdrive for the 'rebirth' as a lean mean commuting machine.

    Band-on downtube shifters (SJS)
    Flat bar (HubJub)
    Brake levers (SJS)
    Grips (ChainReaction)
    Tyres (SJS)
    Brake pads (SJS)

Still need new 'guards. HubJub had some loooooovely bells from Japan as well, but all out of stock just now. :(

Oh, and got a new X7 rear mech for the Soul while I was about it.

Gonna be a weekend of bike maintenance! The Kaff's going to be as-new (debating new brakes as well, but I think I'll see how the new levers and pads feel).

(decided aganist the respray - I just like the colour and bands too much!).

A few weeks back, a whole chunk of Castelli gear from Wiggle's sale. Looks ridiculous when coupled with the tourer, but comfy as a big comfy thing.

    GoPro Hero 3 helmet cam
    Brooks B17 Ti

(ooh - 105 Cassette, SRAM 1071 chain, brake blocks for the Streetmachine...)

    Tufo Hi-Composite Carbon tubs 700cx22 X3 in grey/black
    Tin of tub cement
    Tin of tub slime
    Anodised yellow valve extenders X3

New socks (Merino, On-one brand, X3 for £10 in the Planet-X sale)
New bidons (Vacansoliel, X3, £1.79 each in Planet-X sale
Ness carbon bottle cage (X1, £49.99 to £14.99 in Planet-X sale)

Apart from the socks and bidons, these bits are mainly the missing parts that have been holding up completing my long-delayed TT bike. 3 tyres? Third is the "spare tube". 1 bottle cage? TT frame only has downtube bolt holes. If you want extra bottles you are expected to fork out for a behind-the-seatpost holder on one built into your stem.

Brake shoes for the fixed after I stripped the grub screw...

Thinking of getting a second pair of spd pedals to save swapping on the roadie when I finally get it on the road.

    This month:

Dolan Dual in Black Shimano 105 groupset.
Mantone Featherlite H20 water resistant top as the Goretex and Endura boil in the bag are too large and bulky for long distance cycling.

    Wiggle sale:

dhb High-viz Waterproof Jacket (zip had gone on my old Cannondale - long overdue)
dhb small backpack with free hydration bladder (wanted a small pack for occasional use on the bike)
Respro Hump hi-viz backpack cover (though sent it back for a replacement as the stitching had parted at one point on the elastic)

This coming month. A Ridley Fenix.... and some new road shoes..... and some new cycling shorts.

Other than that - A fizik Arione VS saddle (super comfy and looks amazing) plus a bike measurement and refit, which ended up with a new stem.

Two lots of servicing: big bike at the Bicycle Works got new cables and stuff and a new wheel: Brompton at BikeTrax got new cassette, little wheels for the chain tensioner, and chainring (and chain!).

kaputnik, why do you want to put more than one bottle on your TT bike? Are you planning some long TTs? (I have my own answers to this question, but I'm just curious...)

No I don't and no I don't :) I was just meaning in general if you were doing triathlon on it, or similar. Aero bottles integrated into the stem aren't legal for TT anyway if done under BC rules.

I've been good this year so far. I might even start up my spreadsheet again, I stopped that after getting to over £1000 by mid year last year, it wasn't really justifying anything, just showing how much I spend on bike stuff!

This year so far, (almost) all just maintenance stuff...
    2 Gatorskins
A new front wheel (paid for by idiot who reversed into me)
    A plethora of tubes.
    Some Co2 canisters.
    A Tiagra bottom bracket.
    A 105 front mech
    A gear cable.
    An Ultegra chain.
    A tiagra cassette.
    Some bar tape.
    Disc brake pads F+R.
    Cleats.
    erm em <whispers>A Garmin</whispers>

    Think that's it.

  16. Of course I've just been asked what I'd like for an upcoming birthday by my mum and noticed the On-One Macinato (in the red cos it's different from Dave's!) is only £99....

New Shimano Mini Vees (front and back) to replace the crappy Tektro stock ones on the Genesis Day01.

    Endura Equipe gloves

    New Spesh commuting shorts

A used (bit great nick) Ridgeback 20" wheel MTB for my son - first geared bike, he is so proud !

.....and as he had a MTB, it seemed only fair that I took him offroad - so I got myself a Voodoo Bantu hardtail MTB via Cycle2Work scheme.

plus 2 x conti mountain king tyres and a shock pump

Chains, sprockets, brake blocks. Usual sort of spring things to replace stuff that suffered from winter.

If the council cycle to work scheme allows it I'll probably order a new Brompton M6R next month. If I don't put lights, luggage block and Schwalbe tyres on it I can just squeak under the £1000 limit.

Memsahib likes Cobalt Blue, which is a no cost option, but I think it will be black.

Over the past month, surprisingly little bike stuff (for me). I'm trying to concentrate mainly on using the (copious quantity of) stuff I already own.

An 'elite' style bottle cage (not an actual Elite brand one, but a generic copy) for the Dawes Audax Giro to complement the existing, genuine Elite bottle cage.

A Carradice Bagman (old style, NOS), again for the Dawes Audax Giro, to keep my saddlebag clear of rear mudguard and brake.

Four bungee cords (Halfords do good ones with 'safety' hooks that don't gouge chunks of flesh out of your hand/scratch your bike).

New tyres and inner tubes for my daughter's balance bike: she wore the old ones out!

A brace of LiDL-tastic cycling gear: gilet, jersey, 3/4 shorts, base layers, mitts, socks. Also base layers, shorts, mitts, socks for Mrs crowriver. Also some long sleeved/legged base layers and socks designed for motorcyclists which are great in cold weather under longs.

Some old bars and a seatpost from the Bike Station bits bins.

Oh, and a compass (not strictly cycling gear) to replace the one flattened by a lorry last week...

    This year:
    Ultegra 6500 STI levers (eBay)
    Ultegra 6500 brakes (eBay)
    Ultegra 6500 pedals (eBay)
Ultegra 6500 front and rear mechs (eBay)
Tifosi CK4 frame and ITM forks (eBay)
    ITM stem (eBay)
Two complete sets of brake and gear cable inners and outers (Wiggle)
    KoolStop salmon brake pads (Wiggle)
Two tubs of Chamois cream (Velo Ecosse)
Ultegra chain and nine speed cassette(Wiggle)
Chain splitter, gear cables, bar bag, gels, bar-tape, assorted chain lubes (Ace Bikes)
Pair of DHB Aeron Pro bib-shorts (Wiggle)
    and a wheel build (BicycleWorks)

In my defence, it's been six years since I last built up a frame so this is not normal for me.

I bought a Kindle the other day. Haven't used it yet as I'm still finishing off the hardback Rebus trilogy I was on at the time.

Both my Zymes are getting a bit worn so I got a second pair of Humvee 3/4 in the EBC sale.

I still have to fit the new chainring and secondary swap-chain I got for my birthday this year. I still have to fit the bar tape I got for my birthday last year.

Most recent bikey purchase was an old Cateye Mity 3 computer from the 'bay for my Brompton, as my Mity 8's reset button seems to have a life of its own.

Before that I splurged on some Kool Stop brake blocks and a new Mavic A319 rim for my back wheel. Quite exciting I think you'll agree.

@Nelly, yes very good. They work well in wet and dry weather and don't seem as harsh on the rims.

I've been keeping the wallet locked recently but it burst open in the past week or so:

12 Conti tubes for the road bike (Ribble) - nice discount
Morgan Blue chain cleaner (Wiggle) - never tried it
    Tacx Lumos LEDs (Amazon)
Cleatskins (Amazon) - to protect my Time cleats
    Granger's 2 in 1 Cleaner & Proofer (Amazon) - for my jackets
Giro Monaco long-fingered gloves (Singletrack, Bonnyrigg)
Endura Thermolite leg warmers (Chain Reaction) - picked them up while in Belfast at the weekend
    and the pièce de résistance,
A Castelli Sanremo skinsuit (Wiggle) - something I've coveted for some time for longer rides

Now to repair that padlock on the wallet...
