CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

Ah but Meadowbank is, like, right on the edge of the city or something, and on a main road, so it's too far and too dangerous to cycle to.
To be fair, it's very well served by buses with a stop just outside.
There is some pretty well used bike parking outside the main entrance to Meadowbank: a row of Sheffield stands. There is also a long railing right outside too, and quite a few cyclists prefer to use this (including myself when on the tandem). If the extra gym/indoor football/gymnastics class participants were all to cycle in when the car park was full, it would be chaos.

But that's not the point. Some people don't like, or don't want, to use buses. I've lost count of the number of times I've questioned a venue's organisers for providing loads of 'how to get here' information for air and rail passengers, drivers, bus and taxi passengers, but perish the thought of someone rocking up on two wheels. It's completely off the radar for far too many venue management staff across the UK.
Meadowbank on my list of places that needs pop leafleting - perhaps some laminated posters and a couple of runs of handlebar leafleting? anyone up for it?
I can easily divert my commute.
brill! was going to ask if you could do your work bike racks too?
let me know if you need flyers etc, or can self-provision
thanks!
Can probably self-provision. Someone else at work here has already told me she's going to leaflet when GreaseMonkey are in here doing a bike love-in thingy.
@Arelicat, yes I take your point.
However my point is that if they said "come by bike instead" there simply isn't the capacity for bike parking there to take much more than the current levels of cycle usage. I'm not saying that's a good thing, just the reality.
As a caveat, even if they did say that, I'm not convinced bike parking would increase hugely anyhow. Seems to be a strong correlation between gym membership/usage and car ownership (though I'm prepared to be proved wrong).

Perhaps the people with bikes don't need to go to a building where they can sit on a bike that doesn't move.
