They've announced the route for the British road race champs in the West.
13 laps of a 14.3km city centre course for the men, 8 for the women - looks like hard work for the riders, but relatively easy for spectators (by train, at least).
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.
Anyone interested ina trip to Kelvingrove Park / Glasgow Green for the race (spectate, not compete!)?
A CCE cycle to Glasgow and moan about the Sustrans routes can be arranged.

and a few Edinburgh representatives in the women's.
3 of Edinburgh, 2 wider "east of Scotland".

Thousands lined the route for the races which began at 09:30 and lasted throughout the day.
Many roads in the city centre were closed and there was widespread disruption to traffic.

It were great! PS and myself spent most of the time on the hardest climb of the route - surprisingly hard given that I thought Glasgow was flat. Saw lots of great riding & grimaces. Great atmosphere. We also saw the end portion of the women's race - great win for Armistead. In the men's there was a gulf in class between the superstars & the others. Got some photos and videos to sort through - we were very close to the riders. Looking forward to the highlights.
Wish I'd been better organised. :(
Aye, a terrific day's entertainment. The Euro pros really are a different class - the men's race was in bits from the first lap.
I know it was in Glasgow so you'd 'expect' the Scotsman to ignore it -
But it was in Glasgow so you'd expect the Herald -
I couldn't fine anything in the Guardian yesterday either! No 'cycling'. Only TdF.
There is a story now, but below Chicago and the Stanley cup in 'other sport'.
poor coverage all round - took a lot of digging around to find the results this morning.
Here's a summary of all the winners, also links (or did earlier today) to a story about a guy not getting prosecuted to killing a cycling

It's amazing - a reported 30,000 spectators - a great atmosphere and two hard fought and fascinating races - but still low level reporting. At least the Beeb report has been improved a little and there are photos. This is one of the biggest participation sports in the UK and we now have some of the world's best cyclists. The best we can hope for is highlights on ITV4 tonight. This should be live on one of the main channels.
Even Glasgow seemed a little unprepared. Don't get me wrong, the course was great, the stewarding etc fantastic. But there were about 5 stalls on Glasgow Green, and we saw nobody trying to sell stuff along the route of the course (some food and coffee would have been good!).
Not sure where it got lost to on the website, but the paper version of the Scotsman does give it some coverage: a big photo of Cav in the news section and and not far short of a full page in the Sport section, with two photos - Lizzie Armitstead and Cav.
Great pic via @KenBobPryde and Andy Jones - it like a Where's Wally for Scottish cycling fans. I suspect you'll need to click through to get the full screen effect. Linky
If this has been held in Belgium there would have been beer and frites stalls all the way up the pavement on the right :)
Just been past a Glaswegian newsagent. Cav's the front page photo on The Herald and the Evening Times.
Hi everyone, my name is Susan Swarbrick and I'm a writer for The Herald. I covered Thursday's time trial and yesterday's road race for our sports section.
I was tweeting live from yesterday's race as much as possible around my duties of covering the event which as I'm sure you'll appreciate can be pretty hectic. Feel free to follow me on Twitter at @susanswarbrick as I will have more cycling stories over the coming days and weeks.
We did have a preview in Sunday Herald sport yesterday where James McCallum (Rapha Condor JLT) gave his analysis of the RR route but apologies this did not feed to the web. I've posted a link below to our sports coverage in The Herald today:

You can find other cycling coverage in recent days and weeks here:

Hope this is of some use and I look forward to chatting with you guys on the forum!
Hi Susan,
Welcome to CCE.
It seems that paper coverage was good.
I had assumed website (and Scotsman's too) would reflect 'top' stories!
Please contribute here as much as you like!
Just watched the ITV4 highlights, not a bad effort, the chap from Emmerdale was surprisingly good. Looked a good race, bodes well for the Commonwealths.
