What is this in my neighbour's backyard?

Is it appropriate and/or legal to publish photos of people in their back yards ?

It's a tenement back green, so not private in any way shape or form. But I don't think that's what you're asking. I'll let others answer.

Either an antenna, or they're building a microlight? ;-)

It's a boom arm for holding a video camera. The shot putt things are weights to adjust the balance.

thanks darkerside. our best guess was boom for camera too, but had never seen anything like that, and couldn't make it out. this picture probably didn't show what must be the camera end very well,

No problem :-D I've only seen then because they swing them over the pit at music concerts, and we always reckon they deliberately go for the heads of us fools in medical hi viz...
