Saw a man on his bike this morning heading west at gogarburn roundabout on the cycle path, with what looked to be a pad of paper strapped to his left thigh and a pen in his right hand. He was riding safely and everything, am just really curious what he was doing :-)

    Drawing breath?
Hoping the path didn't get a bit sketchy?
    Preparing to turn write?
    Acting a bit shady?

    I'll get me coat...

That's very odd. I'd probably strap the pad to my right thigh, being right handed. If I was of a mind to strap paper to my legs.

Isn't that fighter pilot trick, route notes etc secured to one thigh to make them easier to read.

Yeah, I used to have a pair of army surplus pilot's breeks that had handy pockets in the thighs and calves. I say handy but I never used them. Apart from that one time in Nam ...

Mind you, the Rohan trousers I'm wearing now have a pocket down the outside of the left leg that only makes sense when you're sitting down.

Maybe some of those drivers who read their iPads and Kindles will cotton on to that trick.
