It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.

Spotted two childrens bikes lastnight on East Scotland Street Lane around 6pm. This lunchtime they were still there. After The Bike Station couldn't help (sticker on frame) I called 101 and they suggested I take them to Gayfeild Police Station. Done.

Maybe the owners just dumped them in the street, no longer needed, hoping for a natural 'freecycle' to occur? Folk do that quite a bit, it's usually furniture rather than bikes though.
@davec there's some great sesame street clips on youtube. kids love watching them :)
btw, I tweeted the link to your post to the spurtle, which is read by lots of folk down that way.
