    I can't see the source of this statistic in the article. Anyone know where it comes from? A very powerful argument in favour of cycling if it stacks up.

    The references given include RoSPA and CTC in general and a couple of specific websites, one of which I can't get directly.
    But from http://www.ctc.org.uk/file/public/cycle-helmetsbrf_1.pdf "The Government has long endorsed estimates suggesting that the life years gained due to
    cycling’s health benefits outweigh the life-years lost through injuries on UK roads by around
    20:1." The CTC reference for this is Hillman M, Cycling and the promotion of health. Policy Studies vol. 14 pp49-58, 1993.
